Default Cargo Box over a Tonneau cover, PICS

Not my work, but I will be attempting this same cargo box over a Retrax Tonneau cover addition on my new F150 when it arrives, but with Yakima instead of Thule. Just wanted to share with the forum, and show it can be done if needed (after all, there really is not THAT much room in the back of a short bed for camping with the family, and the Tonneau cover canister also eats up some valuable space).

I've had a Thule setup on my F150 for a few years now with my Truck Covers USA tonneau cover. Use it for bikes and skis, but I don't think I would mount a box. The span between the feet it's pretty far so it sags a bit with just the bike rack sans bikes. Definetly would not use it for a RTT.

I went through the bed rails, it squished down the plastic covers so take care not to overtighten.

Thanks Snowfiend. I am using a Yakima box and a WhisperBar rack (also made by Yakima after buying the Whisperbar company), which i have learned is adjustable. I'll post up after this job is done. Just need my 2015 f150 first

I did a similar thing to my retrax by mounting a Yakima trac to the tonneau cover, so I can adjust that I put on the back, basically allowing me to slide the towers to different positions to allow for all kinds of stuff to fit. I can put my rocket box, ski racks, bike racks, etc. I did this about a year ago, but haven't taken the time to do a write up on the process.

Cheers,
GREG

Hmmm... Yes, but far easier and quicker to remove a box than a cap, especially if the cargo box is only used occassionly. Otherwise, caps are a great addition 👍. Oddly enough, NO savings to be had with a combined Retrax Pro Tonneau cover and the Yakima Box addition, since this ends up being $2250 or more, but it does provide a little more flexability.
