life's too short to get this worked up about a damn car - things can be replaced, time spent getting bent out of shape about things can't

Yes you're right these trucks are just things that can be fixed or replaced however I think it's more of people getting upset with the general moral decay of our society as a whole.
When someone hit your vehicle 50 years ago, the likelyhood of them at least leaving info was pretty good. Now-a-days people will hit your car right in front of you and walk away pretending like nothing happened, or like in a previous post that somehow it's your fault.

"Keep y'all moral decay on your side of the Walmart lot... y'heah?"

Agreed, just things. However, they're our things. I'm sure the careless parkers care about something just as much if not their rusted out dent magnets.

Me, I'll park in the back and hope I'm bored of my truck by the time its gravity field finally pulls an *****hole out of orbit.

That is an awfully heavy guilt trip to lay on a person. Especially when the op is on the proper forum doing exactly what it was designed and built for.
Yes.. it's just a machine, it can and will be fixed and life is way- way too short, but everything is relative in life, to a specific person.
Take me for example; we can't have children..so that leaves me with, a woman, a dog, my house and my $50,000 truck. All of which, I work especially hard to achieve in this short life. Nothing has been handed to me. So.. if someone screw's with any of those, there is going to be a problem for that specific person, because that's what's important to me, in my life!
That's not diminishing any hardship that another person or their family may be experiencing, but it doesn't make kicking my dog any less relevant to me, or okay because there are worse things going on in life. Yes... it's not worth getting an ulcer over, but this is a place where we are supposed to be able to come and vent about it.
This isn't a life forum, it's a truck forum, where we celebrate...sympathize.. and help each other out, with our vehicles and just that, our vehicles.

Well said. Not a fan of things irrelevant to the topic at hand.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go pay off some other family's Christmas layaway and brag about it on Facebook.

Speaking of bragging I got my nephew a PS4 yesterday. That was a challenge and half right now. Next time I should pre-order. (Life is short) <<----- See what I did there?

Edit: Just to be clear I'd be livid if someone hit my brand new truck and did a runner in a parking lot.

So...

Some jerkoff hit me in my own driveway - hit and run of course - and I found it like this when I went to wash it:

Someone backed into my new 2013 F150 (with 82 miles), this was in the parking lot at Walmart, so they couldn't have been going very fast. The damage for a 3-4 MPH accident done by a delivery truck or enclosed trailer hitting the top of the bed by the tail gate and rear bumper at the same time. You wouldn't believe how it totaled the side of the bed (will need replaced along with tail light assembly, rear bumper and all the misc brackets and decals on damaged area). Yes who ever did this never left any message or anything, just left the accident. Local Police won't get involved being on private property. Went to two body shops, both est. in the same range at $3,800 for repairs, there my Christmas in a nutshell. So be careful where you park because these aren't the old F150 of yesteryear - these fold up pretty easy.

Go into the walmart and ask if they have security cameras on the outer perimeter. Explain your situation and see if they'll share the video. Maybe you can see what truck/license plate it was.

so some of these replies advise commiting a criminal act to get back at the offender ... which potentially leads to at minimum a court summons if caught (at worst jail time). Is the need for revenge so important that you'd lose time you could spend with your wife and dog? If you, or any adult, is still searching for "right" or "justice" I can tell you that you won't find it.

this is a forum, don't like my post - okay, but I've as much right to post as you do. If my post is of no value, so be it - but I have a sneaking suspicion that if given a chance to reflect at the last moments on the planet, getting back at someone who dented your truck probably wouldn't be that one thing left undone that you wish you had more time to do.

no guilt trip, just a suggestion that maybe a dented truck ain't so bad after all in the grand scheme. If it is, then good for you - you're living a blessed existence.
