Car keeps pulling on a stop
Hi guys, I have 2009 Ford F150, 4.6l V8, automatic transmission, 4x4. 187k miles. I have an issue where on the stop sign or on a red light even when pushing my brakes to he ground my car still wants to drive forward. It's not the weak brakes, it feels like the longer I'm holding the brake pedal the more strength the engine and transmission applying to the car. If I'll hold it for too long it'll rip it as if I was pressing gas pedal at same time. Don't have any codes or check engine light. Can't figure this one out, any ideas?
I have a 2009 F150 crew cab I was having a similar issue shortly after I bought the truck 1 year ago. After a couple of times of it not wanting to stay stopped when I was at a light ( the engine would rev and my brake pedal was almost to the floor and no foot on the gas and she wood just start moving. Then I noticed that my gray shifter was getting harder to put into gear right after starting her up, after I got home one night I couldn’t get the truck to go into park which meant my key was stuck and the brakes weren’t holding thankfully the EBrake worked and I was stuck with the key in the ignition the ebrake on and had to disconnect the battery just to park.
After much research and many trials and tests and code readers I was still having to disconnect my battery to stop my truck. Then I’m the forums I read something about the brake switch under the dash just to the right of the e brake between the steering column and the E rake line.
Dude the part cost less than $20 the time it took was less than 10 minutes. And after I replaced the switch I haven’t had a problem like that since.
Btw I was referred to mechanics and even on here I read t that it was a repair issue well over $1000. Thankfully I fixed my issue myself. It did take about a week to figure it out.
Hope this helps you
oh I did figure out that I could take the steering column cover off and manual over ride the safety lock feature off the gear shift lock.
