I would check tire prices first of you are concerned about it, I've actually seen 18s more expensive than 20 depending on the brand, 20s are becoming way more common and popular than they used to be. To me paying a couple hundred bucks more every 4 years for new tires isn't a big deal.

I had to make a decision a few weeks ago and decided to go with 18" Methods and Falcon 305 65 18. More rubber is good for off-road... IMO... also looks better on a truck... was also told more rubber = a better ride as well since the tires are part of the suspension. So far... I like it. Below is a pic of my wheels and tires.

That's not really true, I was told that as well but I noticed zero change going from 20s to 24s. If your tires are properly inflated you won't notice any difference going from 18s to 20s, it's only 1 inch of rubber and it doesn't flex that much! You might notice a difference going from 15s to 26s but I think the shocks and struts are what controls your ride.

Tires will make a difference in ride but it has to do with the makeup of the tire. A 10-ply tire is gonna ride worse than say a 4-ply tire because its stiffer and doesn't flex as much (handles more weight).

depending also on the wheel style, anything less than 35's on a 20" wheel usually look small IMO. I personally like a little more sidewall look, makes the tires LOOK bigger.

I am in the same boat, I have the factory FX4 20's, and want to replace the tires (and now that I dinged up one wheel on a curb.....) I am thinking selling my 20's with tires, and getting some 18's with some MT's for less total out of pocket than just putting MT's on my 20's (not even including having the wheel fixed). Oh what to do....

I get rims and tires at wholesale so the price point isn't to big of a decision maker. I think I need to go see each setup in person. Photos make it hard to really tell how they look.

I personally went with the 20 and 305/55/20 Terra grapplers. I like how it fills the wheel well.If you go that route, I am pretty sure you have to put a leveling kit, or it will rub.

20's are the common 18's are as expensive as 20's if not more. There was a time 18's were cheaper but not really the case any longer.
