Canadian Pricing, be aware

So bottom line is you found out that it is very expensive to trade an almost new truck, right?
I agree with the conclusion - they will get you.
If it is still worth it to you - go ahead, but first calculate how many hours you are going to work for that, after income taxes. Most people won't do it after that exercise.

For sure do your work you should be able to get at least another 4500 to 5 k off from the dealer after incentives on a loaded fx4. Depend how much your time is worth! screwing around takes time and energy. Play dirty I'm sure you can get more.

Now, sell for more, buy for more comes to the same as sell for less and buy for less... same difference ;-)
What I want to do is sell for more and buy for the same as it was 6 months ago... This is more complicated and I'm not sure it's worth it. Yes I can shop around and trust me I'm good at it, not sure I want to do this.

What did you have to do to shave off $15,210 from the MSRP? The only way I can imagine getting $15k off the MSRP is if you got raped on your trade-in, or if it's last year's model. Sounds like BS to me....
People have stories like this on message boards all the time, and I was never able to get those deals when I was shopping. Of course, I don't like negotiating for weeks (my time is worth a certain amount as well).
So why is this dealer willing to give you such a good deal?

believe it if you want. but my fx4 should be built this week and delivered soon. small town shopping is awesome (beat the city prices by a lot )

I shopped around. Got my quotes and went in. Even without a trade the price wouldnt have changed.
yep thats how the game works. samething with my snowmobile. got one of the lowest prices for spring order that ive seen.
same incentives but the dealers are willing to deal.

It sounds to me like you were happy with the numbers until you found out how much a new truck like yours would cost which is largely irrelevant because you are not buying a truck just like yours and that cost is not what you paid anyway.

Right but your truck is not new, nor is a 2012.

As per advises I got from people on this forum, I did some phone calls today and was able to shave 3000$ on the price of the new one (vs MSRP). This is pretty good, 2 phone calls, 30 minutes total... that's 6000$/hour ;-)

I like that new math!
FWIW, I went through a similar situation back in December.
In late October I bought a loaded less sunroof and 6.5'box/HD payload XTR SCrew. Sticker was over $48K, I paid a bit over $37K.
I got XLT remorse a few weeks later and negotiated on a leftover Lariat. They offered me $31K for my XLT with 2000 km on it.
I figured I could live with that if the Lariat came down far enough.
The Lariat stickered at $54K, they offered $44K. After walking out and getting in my XLT they offered the Lariat at $40K, which IMO was quite a fair deal for that truck.
It was close to a go-ahead for me but I elected to add some upgrades to my XLT instead. No regrets now.
It looks like you're getting to the point that the trade in, buy new deal will make you happy.

Yeah, that was a good deal... The truth is I went reasonable at first and maybe I shouldn't have. My wife convinced me that being able to sit 6 peoples would be great. So I listened to her (as always) but in almost 7 months now I have yet to lift the armrest to sit someone.
I like this truck, getting easily 12.5l/100km and it is a SC, 157WB with 3.73. This is better than my previous Nissan Frontier Nismo and it pulls my trailer a lot easier!
...but, it is not the black FX4 I wanted last year ;-)
