Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio

Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Can Sync default to Bluetooth Audio?

Since my last post in this thread I have quit using bluetooth completely with this radio. It is useless in my opinion until Ford releases another update.

I still have connection issues, and had to remove battery cables 3 times in 2 months to "reset" the radio. So bad that the bluetooth will stop working completely with my phone.

I bought my truck new a year ago (13 XLT Scab) and haven't performed an update yet. My system seems to work correctly, or as correctly as it was ever intended to, but I do wish Bluetooth would just be the default.

Since line in is the default I'm considering just buying a 6' aux cable to plug into since that's probably the faster way to comply with the software structure.

It's not perfectly how I'd design it, but I don't think it's logical to expect that anyway.

So, I just updated my sync to 4.4. It is nice that my bluetooth connects automatically now but there is one thing that bugs the out of me now. Everytime I get a text message now it gives a notification sound, even if my phone is on silent, and stops whatever I am listening to for about 8 seconds. I am using a iPhone 6 btw.

**Edit**
Figured it out, there is an option in the phone settings on the radio to turn message notifications off.

Updated today with no issues so far. All the new functionality seems to be working as advertised. Funny (in a sad sort of way) that the pronunciation of "Bluetooth audio" is even worse than before though.

I feel for those that are having problems - it must be frustrating that this can't be universally resolved.

Edit: So I did have a problem after the first day, where SYNC wouldn't connect to my phone if the truck had been turned off for more than just a few minutes. I did a master reset and that seemed to fix it.

I find my system is much more unstable. I had to pull the Sync fuse before maybe three times in the whole time of ownership. Just since the update I've done it six times... Reason being was Bluetooth would not show active and thus not connect to a device.

Not to mention, why is the speech now slurred?

Update on this. I will say that I still think Sync is a joke, but my Sirius trial expired. As a result, I'm only using bluetooth audio now. Now that it just stays on bluetooth, I'm getting mostly better performance. It's better about defaulting to bluetooth. I still have it inexplicably refuse to connect to my phone randomly and I can only solve that by pulling over, turning the truck off, then turning it back on.

Sync is still an abortion of an interface, but at least it seems to be improving for most people slowly but surely.

im tired of the stock radio/Bluetooth. it is absolutely the only thing I don't like about my truck. may just bite the bullet and go aftermarket.

Funny the rat holes you can get into when online. Hadn't been reading this forum for a while, (Busy with life, work, family etc, etc) But I hit up the forum again starting to look into a new set of tires for the OEM crap that has been on there since new (Getting the BFG A/T KO2 tomorrow on my '11 SCREW XLT 275 70r18)
Saw this as a sticky, and started reading as having to yell out "bluetooth audio" everytime I started the truck was driving me insane. Glad to see the update was out.
Update completed in about 20min from download to install, and all seems to be working better. I even get the audio track titles via bluetooth which I never did before.
Now I have the itch to improve the truck a little more again. I'm thinking Bull Bar, & exhaust.

Saw the new update on the site, read all the details from Ford, and got REALLY excited.

Finally, no more defaulting to FM radio every morning, it would FINALLY default to the USB drive it was reading from on key cycle from now on, or so Ford said.

Did the update, and it worked as advertised for the first few days, then, this morning, turn the key, and boom, return of the super obnoxious radio static!

It's time to invest in a Pioneer like I did in my last two trucks.
