Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio
Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Can Sync default to Bluetooth Audio?
So Ford updated SYNC catering to a few whiny people. Now we have even more whiny people.
How about addressing the issue with an "Optional Default input" feature ?? Pretty much sums it up. Why can't we go to Ford.com and download a SYNC update to a clean USB drive, plug it in and update ourselves? Seems like that would solve a lot of issues.

Hi Crank Bait,
I'm happy to clear this up for you. When comparing different make and model year vehicles, it's important to note that they may be running different versions of SYNC software. The software installed depends on the current or prior vehicle owners and how frequently vehicle was updated. If you're in two completely different model year vehicles, their features may operate totally different.
For example, there was a time when the vehicle would default to the last channel used - even if it was Bluetooth audio. This created a concern for many customers as using Bluetooth does require an additional power load from the phone. Customers became anxious over not being able to control this behavior, as it may lead to overall battery consumption earlier than usual. So, per vehicle owner feedback, the latest version of software does not default to the Bluetooth audio channel. The best means of selecting this source is through the appropriate voice command BLUETOOTH AUDIO. Let me know if there are any questions.

Sometimes mine pisses me off so bad I want to rip the whole thing out of the dash and throw it out the window. Damn thing always says ' no Bluetooth device available right now I will try to connect one' It is available its in the effin truck... It should 'sync' automatically. It is called 'Sync' isn't it? Used to show contacts, now it doesn't. Never tried the app feature or even know what it does since the rest of it pisses me off.
The other day mine was refusing to connect via bluetooth - "no bluetooth device found", even though the little bluetooth symbol was lit up in the display. I found a "simple" fix though! Just pull over, turn the truck off, and turn it back on! No biggie! :rolls eyes: /sarcasm.
It's all good though. Two people this week wanted to talk about my truck with me, as they were thinking about getting one! I told them about ALL THE FUN we've had with our dealer fixing all the crap on the F150 and the Fusion Lemon, and then asked them how much they liked saying "BLUETOOTH AUDIO!". One bought a Tundra last night.

I don't listen to blue tooth (BT) as a general rule but thought I would test my radio to see if it would default to BT. My tuck 2013 FX4 (less navigation) does default and display the artist and song. Nav is the only option I don't have. I hope this helps.
I don't want to and don't like hooking up to cables, there shouldn't even be the option. Most phones have Bluetooth. I don't understand why I even still have to plug it in to charge the phone, by now we should be able to charge wirelessly... The Lightning cable from Apple equally pisses me off since it doesn't last long.
Looks like I'm removing the stock head unit, replacing the trim & head unit with a pioneer. Built in Bluetooth THAT WORKS. Navi, backup cam, etc. I don't blame Ford, other than being gullible enough to use a Microsoft product.
I don't think it helps anyone with the 4.2" sync screen, as my '13 XLT 302A package has.
