Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio
Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Can Sync default to Bluetooth Audio?
While I appreciate your attempt Antonio...I stream slacker via my phone, so a USB stick/drive isn't going to fix my issue.
Should the SYNC software not default to my last used source? Sounds like Ford needs to invest in some better IT staff/devs for SYNC, if basic functions like this don't work.

Yes, Ford will be rolling out new software versions for Gen1 basic SYNC owners over the next year. The intention of the launch is to expand the presence of the AppLink feature on earlier SYNC models. This launch will not be including the MyFord Touch platform at this time. There haven't been any specifics revealed as of yet, but you can bet I'll put the word out as soon as I have anything to report. As of this moment, the only confirmed change pertains to the addition of AppLink.
akhenaten,
I understand what you mean now. I was under the impression you might have been playing your music via a USB source. In case you might not have seen it, I provide some context on the behavior earlier in this thread: https://www.f150forum.com/f38/can-sy...9/#post3005966
As always, I strongly encourage those posting with this concern to voice your opinion on our Ford Social site. You can up-vote the topic here: http://social.ford.com/your-ideas/te...ice-reconnect/

I have a feeling that ford monitors this site just as much, if not more than their own.
Its been 2 years. Regardless of any circumstance that they can think of, that's pretty sad, and an inexcusable amount of time to issue a patch or any form of update.
I mean... That's a LONG time to just sit idle with KNOWN issues and literally just do nothing but tell us its the phones problem, do resets, do phone resets... How many times do we need to say "its not us its you" before something actually comes of our investment?
If the update is SIGNIFICANTLY improving the product, good, but I suspect it will fix problem A by creating a problem B, and then the cycle repeats.
If it isn't a total overhaul and tested with phones that people actually have (not iPhone 3s and 2010 droids) maybe it will actually be better.
As for me, I doubt there will be any actual improvement - I think it will address SOME issues, while crippling other working functions, or not fixing some known issues at all.

As a Ford representative, my responsibility is to demonstrate that we absolutely appreciate and value your business. I also believe that your concerns are totally valid. The current functioning of the basic SYNC system not defaulting to Bluetooth audio is by design - this is no bug, nor is the occurrence any sign of SYNC malfunctioning. The current features were decided based on information that was available at the time (for those catching up, I provide a little further context about that here: https://www.f150forum.com/f38/can-sy...9/#post3005966). That said, If you're unsatisfied with anything about the investment you've made, it is up to us to rectify it. That is our duty and our privilege.
Now, I would love nothing more than to provide an exact timeline of when - or even if - this change would be implemented. Unfortunately, this just isn't information I have. I can promise you one thing though: your voices do not fall on deaf ears. I'm grateful to serve in whatever capacity I can to help, I just don't intend to make any implications that I'm unsure of. The Ford New Ideas page is checked personally by our engineers for insights/inspirations and is the shortest distance between the customer and product developer. I invite any owner with even the smallest of suggestions to visit the site and submit your feedback: http://social.ford.com/your-ideas/technologies/
The 2011 Fiesta is actually just the earliest model that supports AppLink. Since then, customer feedback has exceeded every possible expectation. For this reason, you'll notice AppLink jumps up to being available on half of the 2012 models, then again to more than half of the models manufactured last year. Today, every 2014 product equipped with basic SYNC has AppLink available: http://support.ford.com/sync-technol...-overview-sync
I'm unable to comment on anything about the F-150 receiving the AppLink upgrade because the software expansion plans haven't been elaborated on. The original press release can be viewed on our media site: http://media.ford.com/content/fordme...customers.html
