Can I control music apps on my phone with SYNC?
2014 FX4 w/ 402A package, MyFordTouch. Does that mean its Sync3? I'm trying to figure out if I can control music apps through SYNC. I have Amazon Music through Prime right now, but considering subscribing to something if can use voice control. Trying to step into modern times.

Nevermind. Been doing some research. In case anyone else was wondering, MFT is SYNC2. No phone controls. It looks like you can upgrade to SYNC 3 starting at $1500.

I can control music playback from my 402a Sync2. If you are specifically looking for Carplay or Android Auto, you will need the latest version of Sync3.

Boost :)
I have MFT Sync 2 and use Spotify almost all the time I'm in the truck. Changing tracks can be done with steering wheel controls but that's about all I need it to do at this point.
Also, you can upgrade to Sync 3 for WAY less than $1,500. In some instances it can be about half that much in case you really want Carplay or Android Auto

There are two voice controls you can access via my ford touch (depending on software version)
First quick press is sync voice control, you can do sync things.
Next is a long press and hold. With that it activates siri control and then anything siri can do you can do via voice. I think this also activates google assistant if you have that type of phone, but I have an iphone so can't test that feature.

Thanks Guys. I learn something new everyday. I'm looking to upgrade my listening experience. Looks like SYNC3 would be ideal, but if I can just get SIRI to find it and can use the steering wheel to skip songs, that pretty good. I just don't want to be looking at my phone wile driving.

You need Sync2 v3.8 or higher to have the extra Siri functionality. But, if you haven't controlled music apps....have you tried? It just comes up onscreen with song title, pause, ff, rw. It's not detailed with choice of playlists, but there is adequate control for hands-free safety issues. Steering wheel buttons work.
