Default Can I change Body Shops. I am Pissed!!!!

I recently got my truck back from the body shop after an ***** Hole tried to cut through traffic trying to enter an exit only. I t-boned him causing me to get a new front end Hood, bumper ect..... Anyway my problem is my truck spent 32 days in the shop, when I got it back they installed the wrong headlight a chrome one ( I have an FX2 ) put the old emblem back on the grill, missed some paint on the bumper and didn't bother to line up any of the gaps correctly ie: Hood, fenders, headlights so on. I brought it back to the Ford body shop and showed them all there F ups. So I dropped it off AGAIN and got it back 5 days later....... well the alignment is good on the body panels and I have the proper headlight but now I have noticed all this crap in my paint. It looks like small grains of sand and some areas are hardly covered with paint. Can I take my truck somewhere else to get it painted properly or am I stuck using the same body shop because other guys insurance company is paying the bill. Im pissed with the Ford Body shop but dont know if I can change to somewhere else to get the work done to my satisfaction...

I would definitely talk to the insurance company to see what your options are, the small bumps might wet-sand out, but the lack of paint is something that has to be addressed.... If they let you, i would definitely take it to the dealer body shop at that point. Take before pics as well and don't let this drag on too long! Good Luck!

Also, if the shop in question is registered with the BBB, i would report them!

That sucks! I would keep talking it back. Maybe they will get tired of you and will do it right. As far as changing body shops, I'm not sure how that would work. You might have to call your insurance and let them know what's going on. Good luck.

I forgot to mention. I took it to the Ford dealership body shop. The same place I bought my truck brand new 9 months ago, hell I only have 10,000 miles on my truck. I figured they would do great work seeing that it was a Ford dealership and they know Ford Vehicles. Guess I was WRONG.... I would keep bringing it back but Im afraid there going to do more damage than good now. Well thanks Im going to fight this.

You can take your truck to any shop you want....its your truck. Insurance companies cant tell you were to have it fixed. They just have their own (direct repair shops) that they use and are their go to shops. I would talk to insurance first. But you have the right to take your truck elsewhere to have it done right! Sounds like these retards dont know how to do bodywork the right way. We nib and wetsand all imperfections out where I work. And I wouldnt dare let the gaps go out of the shop looking like crap....cause my name is on that job too. And if my name gets tainted....its over...might as well find a new career. lol

Great point and glad to hear. I'd let me insurance company know that you are not happy with the repair and let them go to bat for you. Take it to another Ford dealership and tell them you want it to look like the day you drove it off the lot.

Yep, definitely talk to insurance company and let them know your taking to another body shop, its going to be expensive to repair a bad repair. Sound as if they just blasted it with spray bomb to cover it up and shut you up, and the lack of prep work and overspray is what your seeing

Not sure what you meant...but assuming you mean the nib in a paint job. Where I work...the booth is nice...but no paintjob turns out perfect. You will always get a few nibs of lint or whatever off your paint suit and such...nature of the beast. Or that damn fly you didnt see always flies in without you knowing....and takes a backstoke winged swim in the final layer of clear. lol Take 1500...sand the nibs...and we take them to 2000 grit wet....then buff. And as far as how they feel...they feel like crap. lol Nah....they feel like a bumped up nib in the clear. Easy problem to fix. Now the problem of not enough paint (basecoat color under the clear) on the edges or dry sprayed clear...thats gonna be a repaint.

This dude is correct^^^ I also work at a body shop as the painter. Sounds like a hack shop to me. Just because its a Ford body shop means nothing.
