Default Can a 4X4 Screw be leveled by lowering the rear?

Rather than raising the front or the front and rear, can it be leveled by dropping the rear?

If it can, is there a downside; such as less compression room when hauling or towing?

Just remove the stock rear block. It will leave about a 1 - 1.5 inch rake which will be good for towing and hauling so ur not nose up

I did this on mine and loved it. Then I got a little crazy and added a 1" level and I hate it, had to put the rear blocks back in to compensate. When i get access to wrenches I am going to remove the level and go back to this set up.

this link shows my truck in all the different configurations I've had it in.

It can be done 2 ways. The previously mentioned rear block only works if you have a 4x4 and will give you 1.25" of drop. I have used this method on my truck and it still has a bit of a rake, so if you want completely level I would recommend 2" lowering shackles. A lot of guys on here have used Ground Force and seem to have no complaints about them. For what it's worth, I want to go lower after removing the block. Here's before and after pics of the block removal.

After

Hope this helps out

Ground Force part #91200 rear lowering shackles.

If you haul something heavy, gonna need air bags to keep from sagging or bottoming.

Thanks for the info and pics. Since it is cheapest to remove the rear block I think I will see how I like that before I try anything else.

Remove the blocks cost nothing but a few minutes of time. After removal it's only 1/2" taller in the rear than the front so it sits pretty level.

When you take out the blocks on a 2009+, does this require shorter "square U bolts" off of a 2WD model? I was told the square U bolts from a 4x4 did not have enough threads (once the block is taken out) and would have to get a set of square U bolts for a 2wd.

I was also told the block has a tab on it that contacts the bump stop. Is this true? They guy who posted this had an '07, so it might have changed for the 2009+.

Both incorrect. The u-bolts on there have sufficient thread, they just stick down a little longer than normal. And there is no way the block could come into contact with the bump stop because its under the leaf pack. That will be the first thing hitting the bump stop. You've got nothing to worry about.

Im planning on doing this tomorrow and was wondering if you need a u bolt base plate or do the leafs just sit on the axle?? Also do u have to take the u bolts completely out or can u just loosen enough for the block to slide out? Thanks
