We know that our Platinum rear seats fold up, but can you remove them entirely (just temporarily for a trip; not permanently)?

Yes you can. There is a latch near the top behind the seats which you can release.

How do you get to it? We can't get the back of the seat to pitch forward to see behind it. There are little black hoops at the top of each seat we assume are to attach kids car seats too, but can't see anything else.

you have to fold the seat up then u can fit ur hand behind the seat
