Default Extended Service Plan

Hello Gents

I own a 2009 F-150 XLT the dealer is trying to sell me an extended service plan coverage 72 mos. 60000 miles for $1189.00 bumper to bumper is it worth the cost I avg. about 7000 miles a year any thoughts would help. This is my first time owning a Ford product.

Holy Christ, I will warranty your truck for that. Good news is there are a few dealers guys on hear that sell these same Ford warranties for a lot less, half. You can buy from anyone like that and be covered at any FLM dealer. Do a search and some guy should pop up (I am not being wise, I just don't remember the thread or guy offhand), I am sure someone will chime in though.

Bottom line: if you want and feel you need a warranty, you can get some good deals. Good luck.

I personally would go with one. After working as a service advisor for 5 years and having to be the one that calls everybody to tell them that their car needs $2000 worth of work... I will never purchase a car without one. I always opt for the best coverage over the longest time period. Also, it is KEY that you get one thru the manufacturer. That way, there is no wondering if you move out of state if the nearest dealer will honor that warranty.

Then again, if you only intend on keeping it until the warranty runs out and then trading it in... you obviously can forgoe it.

sounds like a lot of dough to me too. Plus if you're new to ford I'm guessing this is the first real experience you've had with the dealer. I would at least try and talk to other customers to make sure they're a half decent dealership at honoring warranty work, etc. as some are plain horrendous at it

The PremiumCare (covers the most stuff) is $665on the Ford warranty website - the dealers selling them totally try to shaft you on the price - mine told me the regular price was like $2500 and he would give it to me for the screamin' deal of $1400 or so.

When you price the warranty on the website it will have you put in your e-mail address and then it will send you a coupon for $185 off the price.

assuming thats the premium care (basicly bumper to bumper) its not a bad deal, a couple sensors go out and its paid for. Look at it this way, either buy it now and have total security of no repairs outside of brakes/tires for the entire time you pay for it, or keep a couple grand on hand always to ensure you have enough for major repairs.

When I bought my F150 up here in Canada they had an extended warranty available as well. The only difference was that If I never used the extended warranty by the time the plan expired I had 60 days to contact the company and I would recieve back all the money I spent on the extended warranty (2000$). If I used the warranty plan even once for a minor issue then I got nothing back at all. I hoping that I never use it and 5 years from now i get a 2000$ payment.
