Default Read a little...

....about the Ford 5.0 and you'll discover it has "Variable Valve Timing".....like most modern engines....

This is a system that adjusts the timing of the intake and exhaust valve openings and closings.....

There is no need for aftermarket performance camshafts anymore...

Ive read several articles and most claim big hp gains. Even if it is a pain do go through 4 and everything that goes along with them

The variable timing can only go so far. I think for 99% of folks, even performance minded ones, the stock cams will go a long way before being the limiting factor.

Most if not all cams would be designed with the mustang in mind. While you'll see the numbers on the dyno, cams designed for a car that's half the weight and revs more usually don't benefit a truck in the real world. I'd spend the money on long tubes and a tune well before cams in one of these engines. Also by the time you buy 4 cams, springs, installation, and dyno tuning your probably not far from a supercharger dollar amount with a lot less gain.

There have been a few guys that have swapped in stock mustang cams that they picked up slightly used. Otherwise the cost is insane, and just .not suitable for a truck being used for anything other than racing
