Calling on my fellow Houstonians...
Hey guys, been lurking for a while but finally decided to join the forum with my recent 2013 limited 4x4 Eco purchase (early April). Just popped its "break-in" cherry, and I have a question that has been beat into the ground, but this is specifically for the guys that are here in the Houston area... I'm avg 13.7 a tank. Just wandering how much it's going to improve if any. Mostly back and forth to work on 290. I'm wanting to compare apples to apples that's why I only asked for input around my area. BTW, 4x4 w/3.73 rears. Thanks in advance for the insight!

Hey congrats on the truck, I commute from 290 - 45 on the belt way, i average between 15.5 - 18 with some flowing traffic. but 290 is usually bad in heavy traffic.
Edit: really depends on my mood, and how fast i'm trying to get where i'm going.

The reason I'm asking is even during flowing highway traffic, 60-70, I don't pull over 15.5mpg. Just thought it was a little strange considering what it's rated at...

At 60 you should deff be able to get better then 15.5. I've found that it all depends on how i drive.
How do you typically drive? In similar conditions I can get totally different mpgs by the 'attitude' i drive. I just read an article someone posted on here where an eco got 35 mpg, I tried some of the this they suggested and it does make a difference, but its hard at least for me, to get into that habit.
Do you remote start at all?
I guess also more importantly, how are you gauging the mpgs?
Edit: Whats your tire PSI at?

It depend more on how you got to 60. Try one tank never getting over 2000 rpms on take off and up to speed. You will be very impressed with your mpg. It will make you crazy but you'll love the mileage. Lol

Mine has a lifetime average of about 15 with 18,000 miles on it. About 1/2 of that is 400 mile trips so I have given up on ever getting very good mileage. Some do and some don't, mine doesn't.
