Default CAI on ECOBoost = Better Fuel Economy???

So I am doing a 2000+ mile road trip soon and am looking for fuel economy. Will a AFE style CAI help? I know that opening up the intake on V8's seem to help but what about the ECO? I am averaging 20-23mpg on the highway now but who wouldn't want better!
thanks in advance

Thats a really good average. I'm sure you will get a ton of different answers on here but I wouldn't expect the afe stage 2 to give you more than another .5 MPG.

I was thinking it would be slim to none but I'm always interested in what others have to say.
thanks

The direct, and true answer to your question is "No". won't do a thing except make more noise and allow more dirt into your intake/engine.

Even a .5 mpg rise in mpgs is unrealistically optimistic.

The only people who notice a rise in hps or mpgs are the ones who do a lot of other mods and tune, etc., and like the looks of a CAI. But none of the hp/mpg gains can be attributed to the CAI.

On top of that, a "CAI" is not really a CAI. Why not? Because the open top of the air box allows heated ambient air from the engine compartment into the intake system. So, the real CAI is the completely closed system; like the OEM air box.

Save your money for to buy gas on the trip. You'll be much happier.

Have a great trip!

I had one without a tune and you WILL NOT see a gain. It was the aFe.

More air in the engine=more fuel in the engine. You might get better mileage by reducing airflow into the engine but you'd also reduce power.

I have the Injen on mine and i've noticed not a darn thing! of course, I got it for the sound, loved it on my old V8.

A nice tune might be the best answer, the SCT tune gave me about +1.5 MPG if I can get of the throttle. GL

Another gas saver for me was a cover for my bed, many will argue but with the driving i've done, it has worked out for me.
