Sorry for reviving an old thread but I just bought a 2014 XLT and I'm pissed to find out that it doesn't even have a cabin air filter. This is very disappointing since I drive a fair amount of dusty back roads. What the he'll Ford?

Another reason for no filter is that many trucks are used for fleet off road/ worksite duty . The filter would be a high maintenance item, although I would have equipped the truck with the filter housing and offered the individual customer the option of using a filter ( I would have used one also)!

One would think that a vehicle built for use off road and around construction sites etc. would have a cabin air filter. Farm tractors, combines and other machinery used in dusty environments come with them...go figure. As far as being high maintenance items, most filters on ag equipment will purge the dust when you slam the cab door.

Hey Ford....are you listening??

Maybe the 2015's will have a filter, and have it situated so you can also get the blend door and motor without the 8 hour job of removing the entire dash on our trucks.

I think they need the seat filters since there is no filtration upstream. Not sure if this is the case with other cooled seats. Has anyone pulled out a couple year old seat filter to get an idea how much crap is getting blown in by the system?

Also, can anyone post up the cabin air intake system diagram (like the seat diagram above)

Surely there is a way we can figure out how to do a cabin air filter mod for 09-14's.

There is certainly a market for one.

Yes, though I don't recall the member nor have a link to the post/thread. Needless to say they were dirty.

The recommended scheduled maintenance for the seat filters is every 30,000 miles (same as the engine's air filter).

Couldn't locate a similar diagram for the cabin air intake system, however, the entry point is from the LH side of the cowl beneather the cowl cover.

The retro-fit kit for the previous gen' F-150 ...

However, the gen'12 F-150 was re-designed and the kit wasn't possible.

The 1998+ Panthers (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Marauder, etc.) also do not have cabin filters, however, here's their solution (that would also work for the F-150s) ...BTW ... I also recall a post of an A/C issue (low air flow, smell) that pic'ed a PILE of debris (leaves, grass, etc.) in the RH pit of the cowl (under the cover) that was resolved by removing the accumulation.

That's a start. Somewhere, someone has to have an exploded diagram of the 09-14 cabin air intake.

Between that and your last-gen diagram, we should be able to find a solution.

Divide and conquer. All input is welcome. We ca do this !

Seeing how we now have ebola confirmed in Dallas, maybe it's time to get cracking on a HEPA cabin air intake filter with maybe a good germicidal UV lamp to boot.

Maybe add a second windshield washer tank and nozzles, fill em with hand sanitizer or dilute clorox to keep scruffy pedestrians at bay. "Here's 5 bucks if you Don't try to wipe my windshield!"
