Cab corner rust

better check that third brake light seal. Often water will leak in and pool up in the corners, rotting them from the inside out. I was dealing with the same issues a few months ago and had both rockers replaced under fords paint and corrosion warranty (which covers the vehicles paint for up to five years from the put in service date). I would try and pop the bubble to see if water comes out, then you know what your dealing with. Seems like this is more of an issue with the supercrews.
I noticed that tape yesterday while looking around under there. Where can a guy purchase that tape? I need to seal up a few holes that aren't covered well by the factory.

Somebody above mentioned ZIP tape, any all weather type sealant tape would work, like 3M flashing tape, etc... Some Duct tape is all weather, some isn't (depends on the 'fabric' used). You don't want to stick something on the metal that will hold water. Some of that aluminum 'tape' that you seal dryer ducts could work also.

Make sure to clean the area very thoroughly before applying the new tape, to make sure it seals tight. The factory tape wears away after a few years.

I guess I'll shop Lowe's or Ace tomorrow and make this a project. Right now, the cab corner is still solid when I knock on it. It's just showing signs of bubbling a little and has a small paint flake. It's not bad yet...but I need to slow it down.
The new aluminum trucks are looking a little better. Hmm...

For preventative purposes, I like many have suggested, removed all the factory tape, flushed my rockers out, sprayed a bunch of fluid film in each side, and replaced the tape with gorilla tape.
That was roughly 5-6 months ago. Last week I crawled under and all the tape is still in place. Just to check I removed a piece and felt inside the rockers. There is still a large amount of fluid film in there which I was happy about.
I am planning on redoing the process before winter, then again in the spring.
Hopefully you can slow it down! Rust sucks

Anything special to ask the Ford parts guy for when getting the new seal? I assume that I would get the new updated seal when ordering one for my '11.
