Default A/C lowest fan setting no long works

2010 F-150 XLT. Recently the lowest fan setting no longer blows any air. Is this something I can repair myself? How would I go about troubleshooting this? Thanks.

This is what my dash panel looks like.

I think the Blower Motor Resistor might be the culprit. I'll take it out and test the continuity of each pin with a multi meter.

Question for those of you with experience with Blower Motor Resistors. Is it worth the extra cost to buy from FordParts ($120) vs. 3rd party ($20 - $40)?

Not sure where you got the $120 from, but the Motorcraft resistor (3F2Z-18591-AA) was $32 at my local Ford Dealer and you can find it online for far less.

And the issue you are describing is the resistor failing. Had the same issue in my 2007 F150 and my 2011 Fiesta.

If it is your BMR (probably is). 3rd party is fine. Check on Rockauto's site they have a selection. My 2011 gave up on positions 1,2 &3. I went with Ford as the dealer had it in stock (70.00 CDN). I know of people who bought aftermarket and they are still working many months later.

My original resistor died 11 months ago(vehicle was 4 years old)so I got one from Rock Auto("Standard" brand) and I had to change it again this week.Sent it back for credit.Might have to get a Ford one if it goes again.

Did you ever think you may have something wrong with your blower motor ?

Here's part of the testing you would do for a 2013. Could be more, could be slightly different for different years, not sure. Could just be a loose ground.
