Default A/C in 2013

I know the AC has likely been talked about to death here but I was curious if others feel the same as me. I love my 2013 Lariat with one exception. The AC. I test drove it and bought it last December so obviously the AC could only be briefly tested and of course it always works well when it 30 degrees outside. But now, I'm learning that that AC really sucks. My last truck was an 09 Tundra and it was cooler than this one. Once I'm moving on an open road it will cool down as long as I'm not stopping and going. Is this the norm in todays cars or is Ford falling behind. I used to drive Crown Vics back in the 80's and 90's and those cars had an AC to be proud of. I realize the issues with Freon and but it would seem the car makers could do something about this. Anyone else?

F150 AC has been pitiful since 2004. In the Supercrew anyhow. I had a 2007 Supercrew and now a 2013 Supercrew and both were/are pretty terrible. Not only is the system weak and not put out cold enough air, the extra square footage of the Supercrew makes it all the harder to cool off. Before my 07 I had an '02 and that thing was a meat locker.

After all the complaints about it in the previous generation truck, I figured Ford might have fixed it for the current one. Nope.

I live in Arizona, yesterdays high was 104. I have black leather in my supercrew and after a minute or two I was plenty cool on my drive home.

Read about it prior to getting my truck, but alas...the AC is mediocre for me. And summer has just started. Very sad that a new truck still can't hold a candle to 10+ year old vehicles in a technology that is as ancient as AC.

I believe there are a few mods around here to improve it though.

what is the issue with fords and AC systems? my GF has a 2011 Escape limited and her AC has been worthless. With 65k miles it blows hot air. After how many warranty repairs that didn't solve the issues, now we spent $1500 bucks yesterday to replace dryer, compressor, ect. for it to work. Houston heat is no fun without AC. let's hope when we get it back it works as intended. The ac in my truck is decent. hope i don't face the same issues.

No complaints here. I drove my 2011 to SoCal last July and the A/C was just fine. Like any car, it kinda sucked until you got rolling, but after that it was ice cold.

There's a thread on here where a guy was having the same issues. He insulated the cold side of the air conditioning system under the hood and his A/C performance increased greatly.

^^^This. I did what this guy suggested. Got some self sealing rubber insulation from Lowes and covered all exposed cold pipes and it made a big difference!
