Recently my right side went out. The channel up button would act like the media button and the media button was not working. It was intermittent, couldn't pinpoint a condition that made it worse or better.
How long did the replacement take? Looks like a 20 minute job based on working around the airbag.

About 20 minutes. Hardest part for me was correctly aligning the new pack in the steering wheel.

Are you sure? This button needs to be held down, it takes forever.

Well now I feel stupid, didn't realize you have to hold it down. I'll have to try it when I get home this weekend.

It's not necessarily the pack, I've got this same problem in mine, and had the pack replaced twice by two different dealers while it was still under warranty. I've discovered large temperature/humidity changes causes it to malfunction. For example if the truck is sitting in the sun on a 90 degree day and then I drive it while blasting the AC half my the buttons do something other than what their supposed too, and if I hit the steering wheel(avoiding the horn and air bar) the problem goes away until the next time. Same thing happens when it is very cold and crank the heat up.

This, look to youtube.
This is why I hate accessories.
I want a plain truck, no power windows, no power anything, etc.

They do not have to be replaced. It doesn't affect how the truck runs. $30 and 20 minutes for repair on a non-essential part, shouldn't keep anyone up at night.

Do the 1995 F-150's have buttons on the steering wheel? Not sure of this is considered an old or a new technology problem.

Mine developed a mind of their own last year. Ordered new Steering wheel button pack for radio controls from rock auto. Been fine since I replaced the part. Cheap and easy fix.
