Burning rubber smell in front of truck

Nope truck has closer to 16000 miles, not 13000 or 130000. My warranty is completely void... period. So don't worry about commentary from members(like the post above) that don't know me.
I'm thinking the brake pins may be the culprit too but it's just the stench that gets me. Rubber and brake pad material smell nothing alike. I mean i just snapped my FX4 with 12000 miles on it drivers axle so the brake is all that held the wheel in. When i got out of the truck i had a brake burning... but it smelled of a brake... not a burning tire. I should have both these heaps back home tomorrow so I can hopefully yank the xlt apart.... maybe keep one drivable. I will pop the caliper off and make sure we are free turning afterward. Worst comes to worst i will yank a caliper off the fx4 to keep the xlt going.... pretty sad considering we are
talking year old trucks with low mileage lol. I may as well drive old junk....The way this is going it's a good thing my 150000 mile 05 GMC is still in my fleet....

Any resolution/diagnosis for the burning rubber smell in front of the truck?
Hey, did you ever figure out what the smell was? I think I have the same issue as you. I also live in Alberta and have an 2009 with about 45,000 miles. Two weekends ago I first noticed the smell and a friend helped take a look last weekend, but couldn't find anything to speak of. After finding your post, I think we have something similar. It never showed up until the warm weather came in January.
Another thing that I started noticing was a 'pop' of some sorts while driving, maybe 5-10 minutes after I head out on the road. My guess is that it has something to do with the vehicle warming up in the winter. It only started happening this winter and seems to come from under the cab somewhere.
Any help or comments would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Another 'bertan here
Have a 2011 xtr with 60,000 km on it, noticed the burning smell twice now, today was the second time after a 20 min drive (stop go traffic)
Opened the hood, could only smell a faint burning rubber on the passenger side, close to the exhaust manifold / gap where the suspension is.
I replaced the rotors and brakepads just over 5,000km ago, as my stock rotors had big chunks missing from it.
No idea what it is
Also I did notice a similar smell when I first bought the truck, as in brand new, it went away around 3,000 km I think?

Wow this must be an Albertan F150 problem. I have been noticing the problem for the last couple months, whether it was stop and go in town, or 450km road trip I took this weekend, truck is a 2011 FX4 5.0. It was really bad about 3 hrs into the trip, and at one point a had a check brake system warning pop up, but it disappeared after I restarted the truck. When I stopped to check the brakes the calipers and rotors were not even very hot ( I had just braked hard to slow down off the highway), and the truck had just gone in last weekend for front pads, and no problems were noted by the dealership. So I am definitely stumped.

I've had a burning rubber smell twice. Once was when I had a caliper lock up. The heat was so great, my wheel well splash guard started melting. The other time was when I got a different muffler put on and the clamp the shop used had rubber on it.

It's only been two or three times just normal driving I work in a shop but haven't had a chance to look at it yet figured it be something simple and not anything major
