brakes were done after 40k miles

Question about the drilled rotors for those that haul a lot for when the time comes for me to upgrade... I'm used to Ford Superduty Diesels (previously owned 2002 7.3L and 2014 6.7L) and drilled rotors is a no-no on these trucks because the braking stress causes cracks between the drill holes. (slotted is good to go) Has anyone noticed any cracks on their F150's or is towing capacity reduced so much that it isn't an issue? Thanks!
For those that changed rotors/pads and think braking has been reduced with the new setup, did you bed/break in the pads to the rotors?

I had an issue with getting the pads to bed in with the zinc coating. Not sure what the deal was but I felt like I followed a good procedure and came down a mountain after about a month of driving on them and it felt like the pads glazed over. Almost lost all my pedal. Got home and tore it down and it seemed like the zinc was bedded in the pads. Put some new pads on and good to go. Still felt like I lost a good 30% of braking power though.

Not worried, just learning what's been tested and works well on these F150's. For instance on a Superduty, power slot cryo's and hawk LTS pads are a great / highly reliable combo for heat dissipation and pure stopping power for the heavier loads. ...and I'd never go ceramic on a truck. 👍 A lot of science goes into the makeup of the pads, sturdiness and heat dissipation of the rotors (drilled rotors good for heat dissipation but not under Superduty-type loads) and just checking the water for those that primarily work their trucks versus just dress them up. (Everybody does like a purty' truck though.) 😉

Super user
Noticed the front rotors looking different the other day when i went to check my air pressure changing my oil. shinny and uneven wear on them. took my wheels off and noticed the pads were DONE! all week waiting for them to be delivered - i can hear metal to metal when stopping. the pads were eating through the rotors. went through some searching and landed on Powerstop Z36 front rotors and pads. Installed them this weekend and all working well.
will probably do the rears sometime in the spring/summer as those still showed plenty of life.

Wagner is also another great option! I use either OEX or TQ's for dailys and the Severe Duty for Tow vehicles.
ALSO, look into changing your brake fluid!! 5 years old and I bet it does not look to great. I had greenish fluid in one of my calipers when I changed it.
