Brakes nearly fail right at start

I have a 2012 F150 4X4 with 18K on the ODO. If my truck sits for more than over night, as I put the brakes on for the first time I have to stand on the pedal as if I have no fluid ion the system. Does not matter if I go forward or backwards, in a garage or outside. Once I stop the first time they work fine from then on. Any recalls or service bulletins on this?
Have you visited the dealer so they can check this out? They'll also be able to see if there are any outstanding service actions available for your truck. Additionally, you can check on any recalls for your vehicle by entering your VIN here: http://owner.ford.com/servlet/Conten...ge/RecallsPage.
If you need my assistance, I'll be happy to check out some options to help. Send me a PM with your name, daytime phone number, mileage, VIN, and preferred servicing dealership. I'll start researching.

This has happened to me several times, wondering if anyone else has experienced it. Starting up the truck after sitting a while, put it into gear and slowly drive forward or backward, once the brakes are applied I have found they really don't work very well. I have to press quite hard and it almost sounds like ABS is coming on, but can't really say for sure. This is a bit worrying.
Has anyone else experienced poor brake performance right at take off? I find they return to normal shortly after, but it is still unacceptable.
FYI, I always let the truck run for a short time before take off, so it isn't like I am just starting it up and slamming it into gear giving no time for fluids to get where they need to be.

Heh SeeManRun my 2011 does the same thing, ive tried pumping on the brakes before shifting into gear and the pedal is solid, but as soon as I go and let off brakes and try to stop again or slow it down while pulling out of the garage they fail. and pumping on the brakes does very little to stop it for a few seconds, It slowly rolls to the end of the driveway about 50' while standing or pumping on the brakes. then they start working fine. Its kinda scary pulling out of my small garage, I feel like I might tear off the right mirror one of these times. Im wondering if the vacuum booster is leaking off vacuum after it sits over night. Does anyone have any ideas or comments on fixing this? Thanks Curly5533

mine does it when the weather warms up, has not happened all winter. Now that it is warming up i will see if the problem still exist. my pump has already been replaced twice. i have been contacted on this site by customer service, but it didn't do any good. the dealer said it wasn't the pump and i need to have a code pop up. so when cust. service called the dealer all they did was agree with the dealer and nothing happened, like i said i will see shortly when the weather gets warm.

I Think i have found a Short term solution to the brakes not working at first start up. When you first start it up, shift to neutral and give the engine a small rev up and then shift to drive and the brakes work ok. It seems like they dont work correctly after shifting into gear but return to normal after speeding up the engine. So this makes it safer to move out through the garage doors, but it still needs to go to a Ford shop for a real fix. I think its either a vacuum leak problem or maybe a glitch in the computerized electrical system. Hope this helps prevent someone from tearing their mirrors off going out of the garage door.

I started having this issue in my 2012 Fx4 Eco about a week and a half ago. I ignored it the first time; the second time I took it to the dealer and they claim I had brake pads installed incorrectly. So, with new brake pads and rotors installed by the Ford garage I was sent on my way. A few days later, Sunday, I get in the truck and I am still having the same issue. I take it back to the garage Monday morning and before they even look at the truck they say it is the master cylinder, "damaged" by the previous brake pads.
The kicker of this situation, today my 36 months is up and I am roughly 600 miles shy of 36k.
Is it possible my master cylinder is damaged? Should I investigate the vacuum pump first? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
