Question idatalink maestro

Hello everyone,
Has anyone installed an idatalink maestro compatible head unit into a 2009-2012 f150 with the factory Ford Sync Generation one Navigation system? The one with onscreen climate controls? I'm considering it because I would like a more modern head unit and one that I can use my phone apps on for navigation. My question is. Are the factory hard buttons and radio dials for volume etc. still functional? I know you can still use your steering wheel functions but I haven't been able to find a definitive answer. Hoping someone has tackled this before and knows. The other question is kind of petty but I'm very particular about the look of things. Can you make the graphics of the door open sensors and parking assist sensors look like a truck instead of a car? Anyway I'm just trying to decide if its worth doing this upgrade or if I should just spend the $149.00 for the Nav Map upgrade and just use that. If this has been asked before I apologize. Thanks for the info.

The nav map upgrade isn't worth $149, for me it wasn't even worth the eBay price I paid. It's just a new map, I don't see how you can compare that to a full aftermarket swap of the whole system.

I haven't but on Kenwood's site they say with the Maestro HVAC controls stay intact.
