Default Brake Woes....Again

At $50k miles I have warped front rotors again. I'm not towing and don't drive aggressively so I don't know why they keep warping. I have a bad shudder while braking which is worse when they get warmed up from stop and go traffic.
Does anyone have experience with aftermarket rotors on these trucks. I was thinking of using the Powerslot rotors or something comparable. I'm willing to spend more for better than stock, but not enough to get Brembo, Baer, Wilwood, etc...

I had issues with my brakes having glazed over and wouldn't hardly even stop my truck empty. I had noticed some pulsing in my brakes from time to time that felt like they were warped. I would pull the tires off and check your run out with a dial indicator to see if they actually are warped. I replaced my factory pads with EBC yellow stuff ... The brakes are phenominal now, no pulsing and will stop on a dime and give u back change lol.

Can anyone recommend a good site to get some OEM rotors at a decent price? I'm only at 40K and I feel the shutter when coming to a stop now.

Did you burnish the rotors when you had then done the first time? That is hugely miss diagnosed as warped.

I did hawk LTS pads with centric rotors. Couldn't be happier. You just have to burnish them correctly.

This is what i was eluding to in my post. The EBC's come with an abrasive break in coating which will actually do a little machine work on your rotors to prepare them to be bedded in . . . its defiantly worth a shot if your rotors don't show warped with a dial indicator

I did a similar brake in procedure as you mentioned....one that I found on this site. They were fine for 20K miles. I just don't understand why I would have this issue as my driving style hasn't changed and I've never had this issue with any other truck. I'm hoping an aftermarket solution will last longer.

One thing that I have done for a long time is to re-torque your lugs!

Years ago, my DW was having the "shuddering problem" while braking with her minivan. Sure enough, I broke loose the lugs and found that the shop must have used an impact gun to put the lugs back on....several of the lugs were over 100 ft. lbs. and the specs for the alloy wheels called for 70 ft. lbs.!

Once I reinstalled and properly torqued the lugs, the shuddering problem disappeared.

Thanks. Discount Tire is usually pretty good and they always use a torque wrench. But that is definitely a possibility.

I ditched my stock brakes and went ebc rotors and pads all around after having warping issues. Yellows up front and greens in the back. They're great but they do fade. I get about 2 panic stops in a row from 60-10 before major fade. I noticed this during the bedding procedure. I may have to pipe in some fresh air vents.

they do fade horrible during the bedding process. When I did mine I was so mad because they were worse than factory. After I did a 20 mile cool down though and reapplied the brakes, they were tons better and zero fade now no matter how hard I am on them. You may want to retry a few panic stops, I think you will be surprised with the results.
