Default Brake question

I have 78k on my truck, and I figure it's about time for new brakes. I was quoted $464 at the local shop for new pads and to resurface the rotors. I'm sure I can get pads on my own and figure out how to replace them. (it can't be that hard). Is resurfacing the rotor really that important, or can I just go with pads and call it good?

I wouldn't resurface rotors unless there is vibration during stops. Just get some pads for like $60 for all 4 corners and take an hour to replace the pads. YouTube it- it's very easy

You can buy good quality pads and rotors for the same if not less for that price. I wouldn't bother resurfacing the rotors, I would just replace them. The way I see it, taking away material from the rotor is just going to make it more prone to warping.

.....not to mention, if you DIY you can properly torque the pin bolts and wheel lugs, use all the proper brake hardware bits and pieces instead of throwing them out, and pull and lube the caliper pins.

So, is it ok to just replace pads, and reuse the old rotors?

Also, any recommendations on what type of pads?
