Angry Brake Lights Aren't Working

Try this one on for size.

I bought LED lamps for backlights. I installed. Lots of issues. I took them out. Removed resistors. Now, I don't have brake lights (or blinkers). The third light above the bed is working. Turning on the hazards doesn't light the brake lights either. The regular lights do work when the lights are on - just no brake lights.

I've checked all fuses visually.

Help?

Whell, first of all we gonna need more info on what you are driving.

Sounds like the BCM has cut those circuits due to the errors and until those errors are cleared, won't re-enable them. I'd pull the battery for a good 10-15 mins and see how it goes from there.

Might I suggest you add your vehicle details to your signature line. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the reply and the signature advice.

I'll fix that.

Default Still Having Issues

I disconnected the battery for twenty minutes.

Nothing changed. Are my settings, etc., supposed to reset?

Was I supposed to do anything besides disconnect the battery for twenty minutes?

No.

Disconnecting the battery cannot resolve this.

You must use a capable scan tool or equivilent to reset the FET protection logic if it has engaged..

Default My Solution

After spending all day on this, I decided to take it to the dealership.

There is no voltage coming to the brake/blinker wire. I tested all the fuses and other components. I can't take any more time on it.

None of the ways to reset the BCM worked for me.

Thanks for all the input.

I'm thankful to have joined this forum.

ProjectSHO89: I did not know you could actually reset an FET circuit as the 2011 emissions book doesn't discuss this. Thanks for that info? So is this something a dealer or high end scan tool has to do?

It's not in the emissions manual it's in the workshop manual.

Forscan with one of their recommended adapters will do the job inexpensively. Otherwise, a higher end scan tool will also work.
