Default Brake Dust

I have an '13 FX4 and the front brake dust is terrible. I have been told that Ford has ceramic brake pads on this truck. Is there a brake pad that does not make as much dust? It would make it a lot easier to keep my tires and wheels clean.

Ceramics are not suppose to make black dust. I would put a ceramic pad on like an Akebono.

To be honest my truck makes dust like its a semi metallic.

I have only had my 2014 FX4 a few months, and after 5,500 miles, the amount of brake dust is next to nothing. I've been pleasantly surprised at how little dust they are making.

I know the 04-08 had bad dust issues, never heard if a 09+ having this issue.

my '08 was pretty bad ... not horrendous, but still pretty bad. It wasn't easy keeping the 20" machined aluminum wheels clean on that truck.

Oddly enough, the finished FX wheels I have now would be super easy to clean off (no crevasses or small areas to get into) ... but there's no dust to have to clean off LOL.

Best thing to do other than change the pads is a good rim polish after a cleaning. Will keep the dust off longer. And easier to clean

Z7What ... bad dust issues, never heard if a 09+ having this issue.
Previous 2009 STX had SEVERE front, brake dust issues. *And according to the dealership service department was a known issue.

No so with current 2011 FX4.
