Thats what this thread would indicate.

I got my part and plan to install this weekend then have programmed next week. I'm new to trailers and TBC and there is ZERO paperwork that came with this part. There is a + and - button and a slider control. What do they do and how should they be set ?

Thanks in advance

The "++ indicates sending more current to the trailer brakes..the "-" indicates smaller amount of current going to the trailer brakes...heavier loads usually require more current..I tried turning mine all the way up and the trailer still did not lock the wheels even in gravel with no load...The controller seems know by amount of pressure applied to the brake pedal, how much current to send to the trailer...the slider bar allows you to appy the trailer brakes without appying truck brakes.

If you have a battery on the trailer you want to charge, you will need to install the relay in the fuse block in the terminals listed in the instructions as best as I can remember it... been a while...but pretty sure that is right. If no battery to charge you don't need to install it..

Thanks. So the idea is to set it one notch below where the trailer wheels lock ? Or set it all the way up as long as the wheels don't lock ?

I heard that you go about 20 mph Hit the slide bar if your trailer brakes lock up you have it set to high. I have about a 3000 lb trailer and I have mine set at 5 works great, a heavier trailer you would have to set it higher

Yes, that is the idea. I have a 3,500lb trailer, dual axle 16ft trailer with single axle brakes. With the old controller it was almost impossible to keep the brakes from locking up the trailer brakes when the trailer was empty. With this integrated control, it has never locked the brakes, yet you can feel the trailer brakes applying and even when the amps are set high it hasn't locked the trailer wheels. When the trailer is carrying a heavy load the amps will need to be set high to give the truck the help it needs when stopping.

Got mine done yesterday at Galpin in Van Nuys. On the phone they told me they knew what I was asking for and could take care of it. Didn't work out that easy.

I brought with me the instrucions posted in this thread. After their tech tried on his own the service advisor came to me in the waiting room and asked for the paper I brought, which was the crucial parts of this thread.
Without that this wouldn't have gotten done.

Galpin tried to charge me $147 (1.5 hours) to set the programming. I said BS, I did the hard parts. I bought and installed the part, I found this website and printed and gave them the instructions. I ended up paying them $98. Also high but now its done.

Thanks so much to you guys that took part in sharing the info in this valuable thread.
