I just received my 2012 FX4 with tow option and it didn't have a a TBC. My local dealer here in central CT. ordered it and installed it out the door for $229. No hassle at all and truck was out the door working perfectly in under 45 minutes. PM me if you need the dealers info.

Default F150 aftermarket brake controller issues

Reading about these. I just got a 2011 basic F150 it had a 4 pin connector, no brake control module. I installed an after market brake controller and pre made 4-7 pin harness and wired it to the brake control input circuit per the directions provided. The controller proved out when attached to a trailer and the trailer brakes work, bujt none of the rear turn signals or the 4 ways at the truck rear or trailer work. Checked all the fuses and the wiring, all looks good. Does the thing need re programming as per the Firebomb's posts?
Any help much appreciated.

The harness, Fuse and Relay (that came with my truck) are in a plastic bag with the part number: 9L3T-15A416-AD.
Man, this old thread is great. I just bought a used 2009 150 Platinum. It has the regular (not max) towing package, which includes both the 7-pin and 4-pin connectors. It did not come with the controller.

I ordered a controller off Ebay. It's not the same part number as mentioned in this thread, but the seller assures that it will work in my truck.

My question is whether I need to also get and connect a fuse and relay. I'm assuming I just hook the controller up to the wiring harness located behind the dash and that will be it (other than dealer programming of computer). My trailer does have a battery that needs to be charged. Will I need to do anything with a fuse and relay?

Thanks in advance.

I bought my 2009 new & it didnt have the relay installed in the "under hood fuse/relay box" for recharging the battery on the trailer.
It was in a bag (along with the brake controller wire harness adapter) located in the glove box.
My truck didnt come with a controller either
