brake controller
This is the one I bought for my '11. It looks like it is the same for the '10...

I picked up my new SCrew last Friday and ordered the ITBC for $145. I have to thank this site (and all who posted) for the wealth of information. I would like to add a few of my own observations:
1. The dash panel is "interlocked" with one of the mounting clips from the Instrument Cluster Shroud. The shroud has to come out over an inch to clear the hole in the ITBC panel. I found that it was necessary to move the Gear Shift down to the "1" or "2" position to allow room
2. The harness for the ITBC was taped to the steering column right next to the IDS (diagnostic) connector. After releasing it from the tape, I found it wasn't overly long for reaching the back of the module. I needed some extra manual dexterity to get my fingers behind the unit while plugging it in.
3. The harness uses an empty "backshell" from a mating connector to isolate the contacts from a possible short circuit. This might occur from someone probing around with a small screwdriver.
4. I installed the fuse and relay (provided with the pigtail harness that comes with the towing package). I turned on the ignition and prayed. nothing!
I had the dealer enable it today. The service Advisor was very shy about the procedure, but the technician said he had done one previously. The dealer charged me $80 (a $20 discount).
The first thing I did was test it by squeezing the manual overide levers together. I got the "No Trailer Detected" warning in the information center. As evening came, I noticed that the illumination lights the "+" and "-" buttons.
So, my total cost comes to $225 for a $230 (retail) option. I guess that means my labor was only woth about $5 (maybe in China - LOL).

s-crew, 4x4, 5.4 auto
Build date according to door is 2/10
Was on ford parts dot com, they list three diff contollers!
Just want a no BS answer, and a part number if anyone has it.
Thanks

I bought mine from OEM Parts Online (e-bay motors). It says (on e-bay) that it is only for November 2010 (and later). The part number (on the box) is: BL3Z-2C006-AA. This is the module only (no fuse, harness or relay).
The harness, Fuse and Relay (that came with my truck) are in a plastic bag with the part number: 9L3T-15A416-AD.

sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I just want to confirm my options. I have an '09 F150 Super Crew with only the 4 pin connector. There is the plug behind the cubby in the cab for the factory break controller.
It's my understanding from reading this thread that the OEM controller is out of the picture for me, so looking at aftermarket on Etrailer.com.
This part

along with this part:

and this part:

With these parts would I still need to go to the dealer to have them program the computer? What about the fuse and relay are they still needed?
I'm looking at getting a small travel trailer and need to have the 7-pin connector.
Thanks

Bought a TBC from TASCA. Installed and made an appointment at the local stealership.
Drove into the service area, they took my truck and I went to the waiting area. After 45 minutes, the adviser came out and said, "we have a problem - we can't flash your truck because you don't have a towing package." I said BS! The truck definitely has a towing package. It's on the window sticker, has the 4&7 pin trailer connectors and the harness connection for the TBC. He said, "no it doesn't, this printout says it doesn't." He went on to tell me the TBC part requires a certain towing package. I got him to take me to the parts person and look up the part number from the TBC. I had the parts guy type in my VIN and it showed I definitely have a tow package. After more arguing, I got him to go back to the technician and his manager. After about 10 minutes he cam back and said, "we found a backdoor into the system. We can use this backdoor to reprogram your truck." He said, "if you approve, we can try this." I told him fine.
(This guy acts like they are rewriting the truck's software from scratch! Rather than admitting they don't know what they are doing, he had to talk about how they created a backdoor for 5 minutes....)
Ten minutes later, they pulled my truck around and told me due to the confusion, there would be no charge! The flash worked fine.
Tested the TBC last night. The integrated system is very slick. I'm glad I went DIY on this. Less than $130 with shipping and the stealership screw up.

Just to keep this thread alive......
I bought a 2012 SC EB with the standard tow package but no factory brake controller. I reused the Prodigy 1 out of the Envoy I had. I was able to get the center trim piece off far enough w/o disengaging it from the instrument cluster to get the tray out. The back of the tray got hogged out on a drill press with a router bit, and the controller was bolted in the tray with a few washers to shim it out to the right width.
For the harness I spliced the Ford harness to the Prodigy wires, matching the wires by function and not color.
OK, so it's not a factory controller but it worked.

I have a 09. bought it used. ordered a relay from ford and got a fuse from auto parts store installed both and the prodigy controller still doesnt work.
If i use lever manually it will apply brakes but when going down the road and apply truck brakes... nothing
Any thoughts on what might be a fix?
Thanks
