Question Box Side Steps

Hi, I come from Canada and now its spring so I have no more ice on my trunk. When I tried to open my rear box side steps this evening, they no opening and stay at the close position. Is it causes by rust or winter salt on the road? Anyone had this problem before?

Thanks

Hi, I come from Canada too.

Are you ESL or something? Americans are going to think we cannot speak English. No offense if you're French.

I have the same issue with mine. I am taking it into the dealer to have them take a look. I have cleaned them out real well, but they won't spring out. This is my second winter with the truck, and it just started having this issue.

I had to pull mine out manually and clean out all the sand and salt and now they work fine again.

I had the same issue with mine. At first, they wouldn't even budge when I pressed the button and stood on the platform. Then I realized that I should have been pulling them OUT, not down. So try pulling them outwards. Once out, they started working normally again.
Hope this helps.

Only time I've had a problem with mine is when they have 6" of ice built up on them.

I deploy mine when having my weekly washing so they get cleaned well.

I finally succeeded by pulling, but I need to clean them and put some grease. Hope this will help until next winter. Thanks all for your replies, it helped me!
