Default BOV Upgrade?

I'm relatively new to the boosted engine world. I have a 13 Ecoboost Screw and was wondering if there are any benefits to upgrading the BOV. Does it do much for performance?

Thanks!

Because your stock Ecoboost is running low boost, no need to upgrade the BOV. If you are running high boost, than yes.

If you are looking to gain performance, I would recommend a tune.

Contact some of the Vendors or go with 5 Star.

You will get the "whhhppppssshhh" sound, and at least the Turbosmart bov's are built way better than the oem. You wont gain any performance though. I had the Turbosmart bov's on my 2011.

That is true!! If you are looking for a louder sound when the boost pressure is released, you can definitely get an aftermarket one.

You won't gain any performance.

This isn't like when you upgrade a BOV in your Ricer and you get 60 HP.

The 13's are Electronic BOV's, so I'm pretty sure there is a little tuning to be done so the system isnt upset with a mechanical aftermarket BOV.

No, a BOV will not give you power, it will only change the sound characteristics.

Personally, my stock E-BOV, vented to atmosphere sounds good to me. Nothing too ricer and doenst go off all the time, but nice little woosh.

Thanks for the info, y'all.

I have a SuperChips Flashpaq tuner with the economy tune, a 4" AFE cat-back exhaust, and an Air Raid CAI. (those are listed just in case someone points out this may cause the problem).

The reason I was asking, is because I have this weird...I guess...surge?...when doing a medium acceleration. It's not the turbo lag, and I have already done the weep hole mod. When it accelerates, as it's rolling down the highway (doesn't feel sluggish or anything. Feels normal), it does this weird thing where power up, shift gears, then kinda drop RPMs and rev back up and continue on down the road, and does it for every gear. I also have the Torque Management turned off via the Flashpaq to see if that would fix it, but like I expected, that only firmed up the shifting, but the weird RPM "surge" thing is still there.

Like I said, I'm new to the boosted stuff, so I am trying figure out if that's normal or, maybe something is up that I haven't figured out.

That's interesting...hopefully, someone else can chime in that would be better able to diagnose the symptoms you described.

Can you think of another way to describe it? If it were weep hole related it'd be massive loss of power accompanied by multiple CEL's

I'd start by dumping that tuner though. There's a reason virtually everyone on this forum uses a SCT or Livewire device with 5 star or MPT tunes.

Personally, coming from someone who has tuned enough EcoBoost to know, it sounds like that is something with the Superchips tune. I would return to stock and see if its still there, but chances are it will not be.
