Default Borla XR-1

thinking of cutting off the stock muffler and adding a Borla XR-1. My question is, just how loud is it? Hard to tell from YouTube videos. Fine with hearing it in the cab on acceleration but not at cruising speed. Feedback much appreciated.

I had an 3" XR1 on my silverado for several years before going turbo and I can tell you, it's pretty darn loud. Long tube headers with 1 7/8 primaries, 3" collector, 3" ORY, no cats. Straight through design. It probably wouldn't of been overly loud ran out the back but dumped over the axle got obnoxious at times because it was loud cruising and extremely loud WOT. If it was me, I wouldn't have one on my DD.

I had a Borla ProXS muffler welded on, and a new non clamp on chrome tip. I don't like that , So I had them weld on a nice chrome tip. Another amazon order and 120 bucks to have it welded on with the chrome tip, which was 80 bucks alone. Muffler was 90.

Borla 40359 is a 3" in and 3" out. Sound is amazing. Borla is just the best in my opinion. Zero drone, I left the resonator in. Sounds amazing. The 6.2 is so deep sounding. Sounds stock when I am cruising, which with 3 kids that is what I need. But it really makes it sound great. Love the Borla and the price all in is under 240 bucks, much better than the 900+ for the catback with the same muffler.

XR-1 model 40085 on mine with the stock resonator. IMO, it's not very loud at all, but I don't have the pleasure of hearing it outside either. That being said, I don't think I'd want it much louder in the cab. My in-cab volume seems to peak around 1700-1800 rpm while driving around town, or at least that's when I most notice it. It's hardly noticeable while cruising.

I have the Borla Pro XS.

Mainly thanks to Wolfy53 - thanks Mate!

It is AWESOME! Woke the truck up under acceleration - and ZERO drone at free way speeds. Nice non stock rumble at slow speeds. LOVE it

I had to get a Y pipe (i have the HD - so 2 tailpipes from the muffler) fabbed up and even with the exorbitant stoopid Australian pricing - all in i was like $300 AU.

Best Mod. Ever.

Awesome! So glad you like it. I completely agree here it is just right. Nice rumble, but zero drone. Quite for those long drives, but yet sounds amazing when you get on it and even just simple driving around town.

Glad you are liking this half way around the world as much as I am. Best mod ever I agree.

XR1. Pro XS is their street muffler, XR1 is considered a race muffler. The XR1 is a straight through design with no chambers or baffles.
