Default Body trim/molding for the XLT

Basically I have a 2009 XLT SuperCrew and I want to get the body trim (the plastic looking thingy that goes around the wheel wells, then the side of the doors). I know the XLT Doesnt have it (or mine doesnt at least) but I see other F150s with it.

Can i order it from the ford dealer and have a shop put them on? how do they attach to the truck?...any info/guidance!? Thanks in advance

The plastic looking thingy that goes around the wheel wells are fender flares and there are are a series of holes in the fender on the trucks that come with them. In order to mount them on an XLT you would have to drill holes. I've already been that route on my '07 and bought a set before I found out holes were require.

The trim on the side of the doors if I'm undrstanding you are body side molding that goes the full length of the truck and can be bought at the dealer. I think that trim is standard on the top end F150's like the Lariat, Lariat Limited and the Platinum. If this is the trim you are speaking of I'm pretty sure they are held on with double sided tape.

I believe True Champ (?) and Bushwacker make fender flares that don't require drilling. They either use existing holes, or no holes. Don't want to drill. Was wondering if they would serve the same purpose as mudflaps.

Side molding makes sense. Mine doesn't have it either but I was thinking of putting something right where the groove runs on the bottom side. Official Ford molding is probably a fortune. You can buy generic aftermarket stuff cheaper, and nobody will notice.

hey another grunt! cool! I just got out of the army i was a 11B3P!

So if I buy the fender flares I have to drill holes uh? Will they still fit if I have mudflaps front/back? Also, the side molding for the lariats and platiums, so I order from the dealer they will fit the XLT body? thanks for the reply.

Those 2 names I mentioned say you don't have to drill holes. I'm really thinking about it, just don't know if I should get the ones with the fake bolt heads or smooth sides.

By the way - 3rd Army - 1970 - grenadier - - kill kill kill - that's what they kept saying over and over and.....

Probably hasn't changed much since then.

I don't know if Ford even makes them. The other company besides Bushwacker is Truck Champ. There's probably others but those are the only two I've looked at. They have installation videos that you can watch doing installations. Then judge for yourself.

Personally I'm thinking of putting a set of flares on, putting side molding on, and Line Xing everything below that molding line, including the chrome bumpers, all the way around.

I just got a quote from Ford for buying, painting, and installation of the fender flairs on my XLT and it was $683.00 installed for the fender flairs painted to my color, hope that helps.
