Anyone be interested in trading their regular tailgate for a step tailgate? I have never really cared for the idea of them, but it was on the truck when I bought it. I am located in SW MO

My biggest objection to the tailgate was not the step but the pole. I removed mine and replaced the plastic cover with the standard sheet metal from the dealership. So I can still use the step but the tailgate surface is flat. There is at least one thread here on this conversion.

I hadn't heard of anyone doing that, that's a pretty good idea. I could live with the step but that pole always gets in the way. How much did parts cost you for swap?

I did the same with my tailgate. That pole sucks. Part was $50ish I think shipped.

Disco - That looks like a lotta work.

Here is a link to a thread on how to remove the (stripper/geezer) pole:
https://www.f150forum.com/f38/tailga...removed-90579/

Yes the sheet metal is about $50. I bought mine from a local dealer. Some who ordered theirs had shipping damage. The dealer had it in stock which may tell you something. I put a bedrug over mine so the black color is no issue. I have another bedrug new-in-box if someone wants to buy it.

It was a lot of work. Took me about 4 hours to tape everything off correctly, and another 4 or 5 hours getting the coats of plastidip on. All the decals and stuff came weeks later after the surface cured.
