Default Blown motor 😕

So somehow my truck ran out of oil.... the engine ticks very loud. Sounds like a Diesel engine. I was told that I need to replace the whole engine. I was quoted $8500 for a used motor plus labour.
so I guess what I’m hoping someone to say is ‘no worries, get a $1000 doohickey! Problem solved ‘
lol
i still owe $35,000 on this 2014 f150 ecoboost.
Please help. 🙂

You can find an engine pulled from a wrecked truck for $3500 (they are all over Ebay) and then pay the labor to have it installed.

Really?! I live in a small town with only 2 mechanic shops so I had wondered if I was getting ripped off.
Although if I buy it off eBay whose to say the motor works? It seems kinda risky.

Ran out of oil???

Seems like this is the key fact to consider right now, at least of the very few words you've told us.

So it was running a little rough for a couple days... felt sluggish, RPMs we’re up, then the ticking got louder and truck was rougher. So the next day I thought I better try to make it home and ended up stranded on the side of the road for a couple hours. It’s been since June since I have checked the oil (oil change) didn’t think it would be OUT of oil. No oil light came on. 😔

I tried to add the video of the truck running so you could hear how it sounded but not sure if it uploaded.

You went 8 months without an oil change? How much do you drive?

I'm sorry but who goes 8 months without even checking their oil. Unless something catastrophic happens like a oil filter blows off or something goes through the oil pan, you probably could have saved the motor if you checked it.
