edit: I just checked the paperwork and the truck was in and out of the service bay in a little over 5 hours. And I'm sure an hour of that the truck sat while the mechanics were out to lunch. They also did an oil change while it was there.

I have a 2011 F150 with manual temperature control and have recently noticed the temperatue blend door for the HVAC system is making a popping noise when I start the truck. The actuator is trying to open the valve further than it can travel and is getting in a bind. Does anyone know of a recalibration procedure for this actuator? I remember on 2000+ Chevrolet trucks, that a combination of button depressions, along with adjustment of the temp. slide control would initiate a calibration of the actuator stops (limits), and remedy this issue. Thanks in advance!
- NOTICE: The ignition key must be off when replacing the actuator. Energizing the actuator before installation will cause the part to become positioned incorrectly and proper orientation will be lost. Incorrect actuator operation will result.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- NOTE: The purpose of the module actuator position calibration is to allow the HVAC module to reinitialize and calibrate the actuator stop points. To carry out calibration, carry out the following steps.
Remove Smart Junction Box (SJB) fuse 15 for at least one minute.
- NOTE: When the ignition switch is switched to the ON position, the HVAC module will initialize and calibrate the actuators. Calibration of the actuators will take approximately 30 seconds.
Reinstall SJB fuse 15. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and wait 30 seconds before verifying correct mode door actuator operation.

I am not sure what the Lariat has for a climate control,,, dual, electric, nav and so on,,, if it is dual there are two temp blend doors and actuators and the process is still basically the same. You could try this first start the truck and make sure the climate control is set to off! Then disconnect the battery, the actuator and the HVAC module. Then connect the battery, followed by the actuator. Then lastly connect the HVAC module. Then start the truck and wait 30 seconds before turning on the climate control. That should work!

Hi folks,
If you're having this concern, I suggest having your dealer take a look. If you still need a hand after that, PM me your name, phone number, VIN, mileage, and dealer info.

Thank you Mamonti this worked just as you said. After reinstalling the fuse and turning the ignition to on, the actuator made a popping noise for about 30 seconds then stopped. I turned the ignition off the tried it agsin, no popping noise anymore, and the actuator works with no problems. Thanks again!

if you have the shift on the middle counsel I hope you are under warranty. they have to take the dash off and part of the counsel according to the dealer. part and 6-8 hours labor. my dealer quoted between 8-1000 on my truck and my dads truck. I talked them into warranty on mine my dad was not so lucky. his happened with just under 37k miles.
