Default BlackVue650GR - 2CH

I know this is probavbly not the right location, but I know several people have this camera on their 09-14, so I put it here.

Does anyone have an overheating problem with their camera, mine does and if I leave it on all day, I wll come back and hear please check the SD card, please check the SD Card.

I am curios if I am the only one with this problem, or not.

Yes. They are Mounted right under my Rear View Mirror Mount right below the Black Dots, and the rear is in the top center of my Slider.
I generally try not to park facing the sun.

Take an interior temp reading when its not working then call them again.

You could also mount them in another vehicle and see if they work.

Will try to do that, although, it is parked in the sun, but I wouldn't think it would get to 138*F inside the truck, but maybe it does.

I was just more curious if others had the same issue, or if the found a workaround for it. Currently I just unplug it when I get out.

OP I cannot answer your question as I have yet to put mine in my truck (bought it months ago, I'm lazy) but I am worried that in the hot months the glue will soften and the camera will fall... has anyone had THAT happen yet???

We get 98 here in summer and mine hasn't fallen yet. Just corrupted a card.

On the BlackVue's, you might want to check your sensitivity settings if you are going to leave the unit on all day. If the settings are set to super sensitive (or even just default), this will cause many unnecessary recordings which can cause the camera to have too many 'event' recordings which are protected from being overwritten during loop recording. Are you using the Power Magic Pro or just leaving the unit powered through your 12v adapter in the truck? If the unit is just powered on recording 1-3 min videos all day, the unit may be pushing the fail safe heat cutoff. When using the Power Magic Pro, the unit is only recording a 10-40 sec clip which means there is less processing by the camera and less heat build up. My DR650 here in Austin will get to about 132F during the summer but that is not a problem, just normal operation. As these units are so compact, they are naturally going to run hot by design and have a fail safe cutoff at 140F to protect the unit itself.

As for the 3M sticker, the VHB is a super adhesive compound tape (provided that the glass was cleaned prior to installation) that typically will not fall off the windshield. Once it is stuck on the windshield, you will have to force the mount off the glass if you are wanting it taken down.

Here is the install on my 2013 F150 and have had 3 BlackVue units without any problems or issues.

As for the Check SD Card alert, this is generally caused by the camera not being able to write any new files to the SD card (e.g. full of 'event' files). You can quickly clear the memory card by holding down the WiFi button for 10 seconds, but you should also be sure to format your SD card once a month as advised in the manual and that will pretty much solve any of the SD card alerts.
