Default Billistein 5100 cost of install?

Just bought my 5100's and wouldn't you know it, there ain't a damn place in Baton Rouge that can install them except for the dealer, as far as I have found out. Dealer wants $300 for labor/install and $79 for alignment. Anybody have them installed yet? Comparable prices?

As in you did yours? You just rented a spring compressor? I have no problem doing the job as long as I know I can compress the coils. Let me know how you went about if you don't mind.

I was quoted $250 with the alignment a couple weekends ago. I ended up doing half the work myself, tried 4 different spring compressors and finally had a shop switch the struts out of the springs. You can use the truck as a spring compressor. I didn't try that though. My total was $130. (60-alignment, 40-strut swap, 30-lift rental)

Thanks for the link and replies. I'd really like to give it a go as the link has it done, I just don't want to get in a bind with the shocks being "taller than stock" going back in. I'm mechanically inclined enough to do this, being a vehicle maintenance technician in the military for 6 years. Just never done anything like this without a compressor. Will see and post as soon as the shocks get here. Thanks guys.

Oh and just heard my NFAB 6 steps and cattleman grill guard arrived at line x today. Hopefully they will be line x'd pale adobe by the weekend and installed as well.

Advance auto parts rents the compressors, used them when installing lift on my jeep! Actually I think it was free, I just had to put down a deposit and got it back after I returned them.
