Default BFG TA KOs on 2011 Lariat

Day after Thanksgiving I added BFGs TA KOs in 275/65/18 to my 2011 4x4 Lariat. I wanted to go with the 275/70/18s, but the Discount Tire and NTB web sites (and Discount Tire rep in person) indicated or otherwise told me that they would not fit. I'm wishing I had checked on this forum before purchasing the tires. Will the 275/70/18s fit when I have not done a leveling job on the truck?

They should fit, I put that size on my '11 XLT and no problems with rubbing or anything. I put the new rugged terrains on and took them off and went with the at ko's. The rugged terrains were a bad batch but the size was 275/70/18. My truck is not leveled, forgot to put that in earlier.

I understand what you are thinking and feeling right now.

My hunch is, that in the size you indicate, they would have fit just fine.

You are staying with the stock width (275) so you should not get any lock to lock rubbing, and the diameter (height) is just one click larger, so I think they would have easily fit w/o the level.

On my leveled (std. 2" front level kit) truck, I have 285/75/18 Toyo Open Country A/T's. (34.83") and they fit with room to spare with respect to the diameter. I really like the 'look' of the larger diameter tire and it fills up the wheel well so much better, as well as provides an extra 1.5" of ground clearance and vehicle height.

FYI, I have no regret nor any negative issues whatsoever, with respect to the 2" leveling kit, which has been installed on my truck for well over two years now. It may affect the MPG, but it is not as great a factor as changing to the heavier and larger tires.

Some tire stores and installers are fearful that if they do not fit, then the customer will come back at them and give them grief; and some stores are worried about liability issues and will not do this. My local chain tire/brake store (Les Schwab) had no problems with the installation of my tires and offered no opinion one way or the other.

I have the 275/70-18 BFGs on mine and they're fine without a leveling kit. No rubbing, etc.

I had them installed the day I got my truck (back in September) and they've been perfect for the 3900 miles I've had them. In fact, the transmission guy at the Ford dealership has them on his as well. I saw his when I test drove my truck and asked him about shift points, speedo calibration, etc. and he said there is absolutely no issues at all running that size tire. The only thing will be that your speedo will read 3.1% low.

PM me your email address and I can send you pics of anything you want to see. Sorry you got duped, but your local tire stores are incorrect and are covering their *****es (as stated by Nor-Cal 09).

I really wish that was the stock tire size. Looks so much better. Some of the tire shops know 2011's & newer can only be recalibrated for stock tire diameters. When speedos are off, customers complain.

Dangit, I really wish I had posted this request before making the tire purchase. Maybe it's mental, but I feel like I can see a noticeable difference in the size between these 275/65/18s and the 275/70/18s I had on my Silverado.

88Red, I'll pm you, would like to see a couple of pics of the entire side of your truck so I can see the difference and continue to gnash my teeth and punch the wall because I should have checked here instead of listening to the dude at DT.

I have the 275 70 18 BFG, I woudn't go wider, but you could go a bit taller. I love the way they look on my truck The road grip is awesome. If you go wider I think you will be dissapointed with their performance.....your snow/wet traction will suffer too.

My 2 cents

The Discount Tire I went to with my bud to get 37" tires were total jerks about it. We had ordered them over the phone and they didn't ask for a down payment. We get there and the guy is doing all his measurements, incorrectly, and tells us we are going to have to trim his fender and bumper to make them fit, "But we are putting them on your truck cuz I'm sure not getting stuck with these tires!"

They wound up fitting without any rubbing. So I just don't even trust their judgement anymore and just tell them to put on what I want.
