Technically they offered you 30% off a new one even out of warranty initially correct?

Sounds like they were trying to work with you and you didn't like it so you went postal.

Now I agree the owner made it worse responding here which threw gas on the fire but as stated maybe he said screw this guy and blew you off.

On the grand scale a few internet bitchers mean nothing especially when BAK has a commercial contract with Ford to distribute the BAK product under the Ford name.

Would you buy another 700 dollar cover at 30 percent off (another roughly 500) bucks if the first one lasted only two years? Yeah me neither. It doesn't matter what they offered...The owner OFFERED to replace it too. And then cut communication. That is ridiculous and you can't defend that. And if you think a few internet bitchers doesn't change anything you are wrong. Let me explain, my neighbor has a new F150 and so does his son. I tell them my story and there are 3 covers lost. Word of mouth is powerful.
Regardless I agree they didn't have to offer anything. But they did. And made it worse. But that could all change with one communication and a happy customer telling the forum how he feels.

I have an F1. It's 2 1/3 years old. I can go through an automatic car wash and have very little if any leaks. If there are they are at the tail gate, and still my stuff would stay dry.

Sometimes perceived integrity by the customer is doing something you don't have to.
BAK doesn't have to replace the cover, but they said they would, so technically they are now bound to by "textual" contract (but not to Tony because they stated it to a different member).

Sure there isn't much skin the game for them. One customer on an internet forum vs all the other customers including Ford.

However doing the right thing vs doing what you have to do, makes all the difference.

I hope BAK steps up to the plate, and hits a customer service home run.

BAK your up to bat.

I think it's safe to assume bak isn't going to replace his cover, nor should they have to. Honestly at this point it wouldn't be smart business to replace it, this thread has come so far that if they did replace it, the wrong message will be sent. Keep complaining and eventually you'll get your way, I very much disagree with that. I would have loved if the op was taken care of after Julian's first post, even after his second, but now is too late, nothing Julian does will remedy this situation and it is far better for him to cut his losses then run the risk of future out of warranty complaints that he'll need to remedy. Tony I was rooting for you, but it's gone to far for Julian to be able to remedy. Time to cut your losses. This thread/review will remain up for others to see, they can make their choice after reading it.

I said that the owner should have never offered and that he created a bad situation.

I didn't say I would buy another BAK if mine failed after two years, I would have moved on and lesson learned.

Ok, they lost 3K from you three but they aren't a huge corporation for no reason. They make a great product and they have a few defects that get through QC (which technically it was good when it left but two years later became defective), all companies have this.

Maybe I should contact Ford because my third brake light started leaking just after year 4 and out of warranty and demand a new truck or I'm going to give them a bad review!

As a business, it's bad business to not have a hard line for warranties. I'm sure the OP could have found a home fix with the amount of time he's spent posting on here.

I hope the prez posts a video of the new cover he was going to send, then he nails it with 00 a few times. That could make me a fan for life - might even try to purchase them for all the f150's at work.

Lots of people in here with **** poor reading comprehension....

I was siding with the manufacture on this right up to the point where Julian came in here and posted that he would take care of it(bad move on his part, shouldn't have done that imo). OP does what Julian asks him to do(even though he referred to another member) don't get that one! OP then gets handled poorly on the phone, then fails to respond to emails etc...etc...What a MESS! I am so glad I read this, I am getting rid of my Peragon I had on my 2012 FX4 and in the market for a new cover for my 2014 FX4 and I can tell you that you couldn't give me a tonneau from BAK! Customer service is huge for me, and after reading how this deal is being handle......NO THANKS!

Customer service goes a long way. Julian handled this so wrong in so many ways, it's rediculous! They will never get any of my business!

My Pace Edwards Jack Rabbit rollup has turned into a pos pita to use. Its nearly 4 years old.

This thread has cemented my decision to replace it with a BakFlip product...not a roll up though.

BakFlip VP in my truck's amazon wish list already!

Props to BakFlip for even acknowledging this thread.

I'll make sure to fill out the warranty card and send it. Just in case ;-)

Actually...I should start a Pace Edwards is crap thread and get me a freebie!

Cmon......you gotta admit, He should stayed out of this thread! I was all good with them not doing anything for the OP(out of warranty...deal with it). UNTIL.....Julian came in here and open his mouth up and said he would take care of it, and has been a ball droppin **** ever since! You say it....you own up to it in my book!
