THE Better Mileage Tires: ANSWERS!
To tie into all the fuel economy threads I decided to post some info about tire rolling resistance. This is info taken from the consumer reports tire tests that use instrument recorded testing to get a score on various tire performance categories. I have decided to post the better tires for rolling resistance in order of best to worst with all performance scores contributing to the order of listing. Eg (68) = overall test score. No tires were tested off road. On road style testing only, various weather surfaces and tests.
All tires tested were 265/70/17 size. Performance is rated Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor. A tire on a truck in these sizes could cost 2 mpg when comparing an excellent vs poor ranking. I will answer any questions about other tires CR tested if asked, but this post will start by concentrating on the fuel economy winners.
ALL SEASON:
Very Good Rolling Resistance
Michelin Latitude Tour HP (72)
Goodyear SR-A (66)

I've definitely have my eyes on a few Michelins, some have the best tread life too which would help the old Ecoboost rears last a little longer....

Michelin LTX M/S 2 (72)
I put a set on my 2010 F150 and so far are doing great. Got them in the E rated version as they were better in the long run with their 70,000 mile warranty. Have about 10,000 on them.

I think it is a safe bet that a tread style will maintain it's place in the ranking from one size to the next and thru the different load ranges.
And E load range tire will not be as efficient as the same tire in a P load range but should hold it's ranking against other E tires.
