Default Best year of FX4 to get? (11-14)

Hello all,

Truck shopping and hoping to land an FX4 with Ecoboost.

I currently own a 99 F150 XLT and a 2013 VW GLI and want to consolidate. I hunt and snowboard so I'd be setting the truck up for that.

I'm sure everyone that owns their truck will say it's the best year, but I'm looking for features comparable to my GLI. I have Nav, Leather, Bluetooth, HID/LED headlights.

Is it worth it to dump both these vehicles for a new truck? I do love my car's mpg's. Easily 350 miles on a 1/2 tank if I'm cruising. I know the truck won't get that lol

Other issue is even finding an FX4 that won't break the bank too bad in my area. I'm in SE WA.

Hmmmmmm......2013 was a good year. Here is some feedback -

A succulent and smooth 100% Truck from Dearborn or Kansas City. This truck features delicious caramel, cinnamon and sugar, red cherry, black cherry and licorice flavors plus big grippy tannins. Much like those tannins, you'll have a hard time letting go of this one before it is all gone.

I've owned a few GTI/GLI's myself. My wife drives a TDI Sportwagen and loves it. My ecoboost gets about 500 miles per tank (36 gallons). If you want HID's you can add the oem lights for about $700 to any 09 and up F150. The 2013 models got the radio/ console change. I have a 2012 and the nav screen is a little bit bigger, but it can't be customized like the 2013-14 models. The 2012 does play DVD's though. If you're looking at used you're going to pay about the same price as a new one that's discounted. I've seen SuperCrew 2014 FX4's with the luxury package and 20" wheels for $39k.

That's what I've seen with used which is why it's been hard to find something when for a few $ more I can get new. I'm hoping some good incentives come out for the 2014 soon with model clearance.

Big NAV screen is great. I'm not concerned about customizing it. Just want it to work lol

The maps on the nav aren't that great. Google maps over Bluetooth are better. The best way that I've found to get the best deal is to go on amazon, search new vehicles within 500 miles with the features you want, scroll through the listings and find the place with the biggest discount. Do everything through email so they can't get pushy with you and make the dealerships compete against each other.

What do you mean? Can I stream Google Maps from my phone to my truck touchscreen via bluetooth?

Yes. I use amazon prime music over my phone and pull up google maps on my iphone at the same time. If there's a turn coming up it'll lower the music volume and tell you a turn is coming up. The OEM Nav maps suck.

I agree 2013+.

I picked up a late year build 13' ECO and it has all the latest TSB's, PCM flashes, and even has the intercooler block-off plate from the factory (a fix from summer of 13'). Also has HID and if you want the towing mirrors, has the power fold/telescoping feature. Also the 2nd generation of Sync (not sure the year range there)
