Yea I have heard great things about 5 star. I've heard they are hard to beat, especially with towing.

That's pretty good you guys are getting better MPG's with the tune. That would make it comparible to the EB MPG wise

Low end power and it seems to rev a lot quicker. I have a Teryx4 and it pulls it like it's nothing. I'm so impressed with the 87, I'm going to get the 91 next.

I am just using the canned 87 octane tune for now. Haven't had a chance to get custom tunes yet.

Mine is getting a half mpg better than my Eco did. No limp mode with this one yet under the same conditions. Very happy so far

I am running the SCT tuner with custom tunes from Mike at 5 Star. I have been very happy with the results. I bought my truck with 34.5" Nitto Trail Grapplers so the truck was fairly sluggish since I got it. Also had odd shift patterns due to the tires, hunted gears uphill on the highway, and obviously the speedometer was off a bit. I also added the aFe Stage 2 intake at the time bc 5 Star was having a holiday sale and the previous owner added what amounted to a HOT air intake lol. So Mike wrote tunes to accommodate the intake, exhaust, and tire size and things are MUCH better now. Not 100% sure what my mpg was prior to the tune, but drive ability is definitely better. Firmer shifts, better throttle response, and the speedo is like factory (I think reads about 72 when GPS shows 70 or so).

I have only tried the 87 Performance though since it isn't my daily driver and bc it is too fun to drive. I may eventually try the 87 Economy and 93 Performance that I also picked as part of the package. Going to have him update my tunes bc I'm going up to a bigger tire in the next couple weeks.

Are the HYPERTECH anygood? I guess I'm kinda confused as to what a tuner would accomplish, like changing the shift points. You can do that yourself in Manual mode correct?

Using manual mode you can change when the shift occurs, but not how it occurs. A tuner can change how soft/hard a shift occurs, and how quickly (to some extent) the shift is accomplished. From the factory shifts are sluggish, a good tuner like 5-star will make them crisp and quick, which results in the truck being faster!
