Best Sway Bar End Links
Well, in a last ditch effort.........I am going to try replacing the sway bar end links
I still have the clunking and popping noise and two dealers cant find it From what I have read, leveled trucks tend to be hard on these I just helped a friend change the end links on his 2011 Silverado........after he had some front end clunking noises. Problem solved Who makes the best end links for the F150 trucks? I wonder if I should go with polyurethane? Greaseable? Stock or extended? |
I've used the Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings and end links on a few trucks, one of them my own. No complaints, decent price, and cured the issues. When I need it on this truck, I'll buy them again.
The greaseable feature appears to be something new since the last time I replaced parts. Sounds like it may be a plausible idea. I'd try them just to see, couldn't hurt anything. |
Moog makes great products. As stated, try and get the greaseable style.

I bought some Moogs and the install was fast and easy
Hopefully put some miles on the truck this week and see if the noise went away |
Good deal.. let us know.

The stockers seem to still be tight and did not appear to be shot

After driving the truck last night, its does seem tighter.......but the popping/clunking noise is still present and the side to side creaking noise is also still there 43,000 miles only on the truck......... |
Check the sway bar bushings

clunk, clunk, clunk away........ did you ever find the issue? |
Yes.....hopefully
Truck was dropped off at a dealer.....and is back, quiet and smooth! Replaced the driver side lower ball joint and replaced multi-function switch (for the wipers) Also performed TSB 14-0090, lubed driveshaft splines and adjusted pinion bearing preload (too much factory play)…...both which cause a clunk 9L3Z-3050-A; Joint BL3Z-4676-A; Seal FL3Z-7N357-A; Shim N800594-S100; Bolt BC3Z-13K359-BA; Switch XY-75W140-QL; Oil BR-1602; Kit |
Here is the info on the TSB 14-0090 that was performed:
Some 2011-2014 F-150 vehicles built on 1/1/2011 and through 4/1/2014 may exhibit an intermittent click or snap-type noise from the rear axle on initial light acceleration from a stop while in drive or reverse. The noise may also occur on light acceleration after changing direction from drive to reverse, or reverse to drive. https://ford.oemdtc.com/TSB/14-0090.pdf |

thanks for the info. I wish I could upload a video. I changed sway bar links but it's still there. Dont see any play in ball joints either. 2011 with 64k miles. It's been doing it for the last 5k miles at least but it wasn't as bad up until the last few months. Mine is a knocking noise passenger side front. If I drive and swerve left I get it and also hitting bumps. Driving me nuts . I do all my own work on my vehicles (as long as I know what it is that needs ro be fixed lol) in this case i don't.

I didn't see any play in the ball joints either, but the dealer said the one was shot
They also said the driveshaft clunk can and will travel up to the front end, so the TSB was performed on the splines and the shim was installed in the pinion |

Mine is doing it too. It started AFTER I replaced the passenger side sway bar link. I laid under the truck and had a buddy bounce the truck side to side. It looks to me like the sway bar is popping the link up and down. I thought I got it tight enough, but I'm not sure now. I pumped it full of grease and it seemed to quiet down for a short time, but the noise is back.
