A strut also takes the place of the upper control arm.

Strut ? Coilover? I think we all know what I was referring to. I was leaning towards the Monroe or Gabriel units because you can buy them pre-assembled with the springs, ready to swap out.

No. and I'm not trying to be annoying, just trying to point out there's a difference. Not that it even matters because we all know what the op is asking.

There's confusion because their upper halves, with the coil spring mounted on top, look extremely similar to struts. Their bottom on the other hand is a very different design. Technically speaking, the reason that a coilover shock is not a strut, is because it is not an integral part of the suspension.

Yup, stock for stock that is your best option.

Hi. Was wondering how you set the ride height for these shocks? Did you put a leveling spacer above them or? Also, did you use the existing spring with the new shock? This is all new to me so thanks for the info. Thank you in advance.

Was just looking myself to replacing my front coil-overs/struts. After reading spooner's post above about the Monroe Reflex, I decided to check them out, and oddly enough, on Monroe's website they call them struts. Now we know where the confusion lies....
