Default Best replacement struts

About to hit 90k miles and starting to notice a loss of ride quality. Was looking into the spring/strut pre-built units from Monroe and Gabriel. Anyone have some advice?

Biggest and most important question, what's your budget? Are you looking to stay close to OEM quality and price, or are you looking to upgrade and are willing to pay extra for the quality.

Don't want to break the bank, but still want a quality product. The truck is my daily driver, with occasional long-distance highway trips. Have some decent upgrades (CAI, throttle body, cat-back exhaust, tune, coils). Mostly highway driving, no offroad. Dont have a lift, have stock 20" wheel/tires. 5.0, 4WD, Screw.....

A set of Bilstein would be a nice upgrade for you. They're a quality shock and supposedly they improve the ride quite a bit. I have yet to try my set out though.

Not to be that guy, but just as an FYI, these trucks do not use struts anywhere on the truck.

Shocks in the rear and coilover shocks up front.

That said, when I replaced my coilovers, I went with the Monroe coilovers. They work great and made the truck drive like new again.

Good point, I thought they were struts too.

I had a set of the Bilstein 5100's installed not long after I bought my truck. Went with front and rears...these can be used to level the front from 1/2" to 2-1/4 inches or just use them at the stock ride height. I've got mine set at 1-1/2 inches in the front just for looks and to retain some of the rake for towing. Close to 30K miles since installed and love the ride (firmed up a bit) for handling and with P rated tires the truck is still great for daily driving and long road trips. I'm close to 70 yrs old and wanted to be the coolest resident at the old folks home!!

Exactly what pawpaw did is what i did. I have put those struts / shocks on my last 3 trucks. Best upgrade you can do. The ride is much more predictable, and firm, but not harsh. It is perfect! Get the rear sway bar and your truck will drive like a dream!

I replaced my shocks and struts at 33k miles. Made an amazing difference. I did the 1.5" level as well. Just a little bit of rake, but nothing like the factory.

Isn't a strut and coil over basically the same thing???
