Question Best replacement 20" tire.

It's time to replace my OEM 275/55-20 Pirelli Scorpion tires...

What's been the most popular replacement tire?
and can you go oversize on the 275/55-20 stock tire on the stock rim?
If so, how much??

Thanks!!

What are your wishes for the truck? Do you want to go more aggressive? Some of the most popular A/T tires are the Toyo A/T II, BFG A/T, and the Nitto Terra Grappler. Some of the more aggressive M/T tires that are popular are the Goodyear Duratrac (which is more like a A/T M/T mix), Nitto Trail Grappler, and the Toyo M/T. As far as to how large you can go on the stock 20" rim, I am running a set of 295/65R20 (35.5X12R20) Nitto Trail Grapplers so stock rim is not gonna be a limitation unless you are lifting and going with a tire wider than a 12.50 or 13. Hope this helps.

I do a lot of hwy driving, so something quiet would be good, but still like a good looking tire that fits the truck... if that makes any sense.

I had the P275x60x20 Toyo AT2's (33x11) on my '11 Lariat...1" taller then stock but close to the same weight so you don't get penalized too bad for mileage loss and performance. You still get the look's and traction of an all terrain too!

I just put a set of Bridgestone Dueler H/Ls on in the stock size(20s). They are very quiet and ride great. Very good in the rain. I drove in about 2 inches of snow and some ice last week and everything was fine. They are rated as an all season/weather tire. They come with a 65,000 mile guarantee. Got them at my local Bridgestone/Firestone dealer. Set of 4 mounted/balanced, roadhazard warranty, lifetime rotation/balance for 800.00 and there was a Bridgestone rebate of $100.00.

Default BFG Rugged Trail

I have a few hundred miles on BFG Rugged Trails. I went with a 275/60/20 tire. They look great on my FX2. The wheels really fill the wheel well nicely. I posted pics in the wheels and tires forum with the title "New Shoes". I was immediately surprised how quiet these tires are! Traction in rain and ice has not been a problem. Off road they are fabulous. They feel very sure footed. The new tires are only 6lbs more than the OEM Michelin tires I had on the OEM 18" rims. However I have gone from a 30.5" tire to a 33" tire. The ride is much better, truck feels solid. No loss in performance or mileage either.

+1 on the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza's. They are on my truck now (stock tire) and is hands down the best stock tire I have ever owned (that came on the vehicle from the factory). They are very quiet, outstanding grip through anything I have thrown at them (no snow yet though), and are wearing extremely well. These will go back on the truck if I don't trade it in on a 2015 before they wear out. I have almost 17k on these tires, and can barely tell.......I have rotated them every 5k.

I put on the new Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure 275/60-20. As mentioned the 275/60 is slightly taller than stock. So far I like the tire; runs quiet, looks good and good in the snow that I have been dealing with.

If you are doing primarily street driving and especially if you have wet roads often, like I do here in Florida, you cannot beat the Michelin LTX M/S2. From wht I hear they aren't half bad in snow either. Best tires I have ever had on a street driven truck, quiet, smooth ride as you would expect, good handling, and in the rain, it is like "What rain?!?!". 70K treadwear warranty. I have rotated mine every 5K and I cannot see ANY wear yet after 3 rotations. These tires rock, well worth the extra bucks. The stock P Scorps are terrible tires, you buy the Michelins you will never look back.
